A little over two months ago my life changed forever. I was never able to speak about my father because I was scared of a public audience and being judged, which was the complete opposite message he would spread. With Father’s Day coming up, I thought it would be a nice time to finally spread his message.

My Dad was a firm believer in the fact that everything will work out and that you have to put your head down and believe it even though it might feel like it won’t.

After graduation, I have come to the realization that through dark times and late nights, life is great, and it did work out, and it’s something to be thankful for no matter how hard it gets.

Love you, Dad, and happy early Father’s Day ❤️ by @ben.andrus

Haddonfield senior & Boston College commit Ben Andrus nearly lost his life to a serious heart condition on July 11, 2025.

A return to running was never guaranteed. Nor were the fast times that made him an All-American.

But he fought tooth and nail to lead @haddons_boys_trackandfield to a cross-country state title and an appearance at Nike Cross Nationals.

And just as Andrus got back on his feet, his world turned upside down again. His father, Jeffery Andrus, passed away 10 days before the biggest race of his career.

He didn’t stop running. In fact, he honored his father the rest of the way.

Special thanks to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for all of the help along the way. Also, huge thanks to Coach Watson and Coach McGowan for the opportunity. Go Eagles! by @ben.andrus
