“Where your fear is, there is your task.” – Carl Jung

Exploration isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s about facing fears head-on and discovering the true grit within ourselves. It’s the call of the unknown that drives us, pushing our boundaries and rekindling the raw wonder of life. Exploration immerses us in God’s grand design, where every challenge is a refining fire and test of our resolve.

I’m grateful to have you on this journey and hope you’ve felt encouraged to explore the unknown in your life. It comes with pain, discomfort, setbacks, disappointments, and heartbreak, but it’s in these moments that the hidden gems are waiting to be discovered. This is where the good stuff is—the moments that expand your perception of life’s fullness, increases your ability to be loving and to actually receive it. It’s not so easy sometimes.

This footage is a fun mix of shots from the sail from Newport Beach, CA 🇺🇸, down Mexico 🇲🇽, to stunning Guatemala 🇬🇹, where we camped on the very active Volcán de Fuego. That last lava explosion was very much a surprise and almost claimed the drone as its prize. This reel also serves as a teaser of what’s to come as we have loads of video to release from those legs and onward across the Pacific Ocean to French Polynesia 🇵🇫. All in God’s perfect timing.

Oh what a wonderful world it is 🌎

Huge thanks to the incredible crew: @dronesey , @nickarper, @aseaofpeople, and a shoutout to @nickarper for the stellar editing. Footage was captured by @dronesey, @nickarper, @aseaofpeople, and yours truly. God willing, we’ll soon enough have all the video from Central America edited and ready to share. Hope you enjoy✌🏼 taken in Volcan De Fuego, Guatemala by @ben.cook

Life doesn’t always go according to plan, and oftentimes, that’s exactly where God does His best work.

Last month, I found myself tucked away in a little rainforest cottage in Australia called “Allawah”. The plan was to finish a project. Instead, upon arrival it rained for seven straight days.

Turns out, Allawah means “rest” in the Aboriginal language, and that’s exactly what God had in mind. In that forced stillness, He led me back to Psalm 23:
“He makes me lie down in green pastures… He restores my soul. He guides me along the right paths.” I didn’t realize how much restoration and guidance I needed until He slowed me down enough to see it.

Over the past year, I’ve been a little MIA, and many of you have asked where I disappeared to. I’m grateful you cared enough to notice. Here’s the update:

Four years ago, I set out to sail the world, not just for adventure, but because God called me to.

The mission was simple: learn His heart through the unique faith and culture of each place I traveled, share what I learned, and be a blessing wherever I could.

I thought I’d launch this mission with a wife as permanent crew. That hadn’t (hasn’t) happened yet so I went anyway, with rotating volunteer crew, trusting God’s plan was still in motion.

Crossing oceans, filming, fixing engines, navigating storms, leading teams of changing faces... it stretched me beyond anything I could have prepared for. We saw beauty and chaos, war zones and paradise. I gained lifelong family in places I’d never been before.

And through it all, God stripped me down to something deeper: Faith that doesn’t flinch.

Each failure sent me back to Scripture. Each hardship revealed Jesus more clearly. Each victory reminded me this life is about His story, not mine.

Three days, three sold out @hawthorneheights shows. Two at @hangar24redlands and one at @hangar24orangecounty, all three put on by @hangar24sessions. Sleep didn’t make the setlist.

Hawthorne Heights said from the stage that they’d pretty much shut our whole business down for three days. That was about right.

We weren’t sure we could pull off a third show. Wanting to host HH in Orange County and making it happen are two different things. Our team made it happen.

This was all Hangar 24. Steve Wilson and Hangar 24 Sessions took the concert side, Cousin Colleen ran operations in Redlands, Hayden and Nikki in Orange County. Sue (Mom!), Steve Garcia, Chefs John, Frank, and Jacob, Andrew, Mitch, Mike, Chris, Suki, Eric, and people from every location worked fourteen hour days while others kept the company running. Most of that never makes it into a photo.

To our Hangar 24 team, I’m so proud of you. I know what these days asked of you, and watching you show up for each other means a lot.

Then there was the live music community. Crew, techs, and musicians, some straight off the stage from their own set to help the next artist. Many showed up before anybody asked. We are honored to be part of such a community. Our sound and lighting rigs were brand new, and Hawthorne Heights and our crew pushed them to the absolute max right out of the box.

Thank you Hawthorne Heights for three nights I won’t forget. And thank you to every person who showed up and sang with us.

I’ve done enough hard things to know how many ways this could have gone sideways. We got three nights, three packed rooms, every person home safe, brand new rigs that held, and a team that came out closer than it went in. I’m thankful to God for being with us. I felt His hand on all of it.

P.S. We couldn’t get enough of Hawthorne Heights, so Steve Wilson, DJ Jimmie, and a few of us kept it going at karaoke in a restaurant full of people from the show. Every person knew every word, and it was awesome. by @ben.cook

June 18, 2026 - Reminiscing on the recent voyage from French Polynesia to American Samoa to Fiji. Tahiti felt like a second home. I have more words of gratitude, joy, sadness, suffering, and growing closer to God through wild experiences to share than I can possibly fit here or even put together, so I’m simply just going to share some things that I experienced along the way. Here is the beginning of the voyage from Tahiti to Moorea, where I begin what would be a very long process to get permission to leave French Polynesia 🇵🇫

These verses were given to me over 5 years ago at the beginning of my sailing adventure and missionary journey by my friend @bobgoff, and I never experienced them more tangibly than over the months that followed.

“Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. They saw the works of the LORD, his wonderful deeds in the deep. For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits’ end. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders.”

This past weekend, Hangar 24 had the honor of supporting @maverick_river Man Camp, a weekend dedicated to bringing men together in faith, fellowship, and community.

We were especially grateful to welcome everyone to Hangar 24 Redlands for the after party lunch, a chance to keep the weekend going, share a meal, and simply spend time together.

We believe there’s something special about gathering around the table, building relationships, and creating a place where community can grow. We’re grateful Hangar 24 could be that gathering place this weekend.

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13

Thank you, Maverick River Man Camp, for letting us be a part of it. 🙏 by @ben.cook

Happy 250th Anniversary of American Independence.

For all our flaws, I still believe America remains the world’s greatest hope for liberty. May we continue striving to become a nation worthy of that calling.

I wish I could be celebrating with you all today. Instead, God has me on a different path this year. I don’t fully understand it yet, but I’m learning that the greatest journeys often begin when we’re willing to follow Him one step at a time.

As we celebrate the freedom we’ve been given, may we all continue seeking the One who alone can truly heal both our hearts and our nation.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

How is the strongest beer in the Hangar 2.4%?

England, 1943. The night before a mission, the halls were loud, the glasses were high, and every man knew what dawn would ask of him. Painted on the nose of his bomber, a woman smiled. There was a reason she was there, and it’s the reason this beer exists.

Her story is in the slides. →
