See you tomorrow bright and early! We’re thrilled to have a sell-out crowd join us for the Building Queens conference to discussion the billions of dollars of investment coming to the borough.

We’ll hear from @queensbprichards, @kgfornyc, @cmkevincriley, @nycplanning, and from project leaders across Queens.

Big thank you to all of our sponsors for helping to make this possible, including our Gold and Silver sponsors @clear, @officialhardrock, @resortsworldnyc, Cord Meyer, @nypaenergy, @plaxallproperties, and @theportauthority_ny_nj – as well as our many Bronze and Media sponsors above. (Too many to tag!)

The US Open is going to bring 1.2 million visitors to the World’s Borough this summer – and we’re proud to greet them there with our newly-revamped @itsinqueens tourism kiosk. Volunteers will be giving out thousands of postcards, stickers, brochures, maps, and more to celebrate all that the borough has to offer.

Big thanks to @repgracemeng, @senatorcomrie, @sambergerny, @queensbprichards, @cmsandraung, @cmshanelth and their offices for joining us for the ribbon cutting. And thanks as always to our hosts at @ustanationaltenniscenter for having us. @queens_edc.

If you’ve ever run a small business, you know that sometimes it just takes a couple extra bucks to get “unstuck.”

Maybe there’s a marketing to-do that’s been hanging over your head for months. Or a piece of broken equipment sitting in the corner, gathering dust while you try to pay the repair bill.

But margins are tight, and who has the money to take care of everything on the to-do list?

This recurring problem was the genesis for a new program at @queens_edc : Flash Grants, a quick and simple microgrant program to help Queens small businesses get over the hump.

We brought this idea to our friends at @maspethfederalsavings earlier this summer, and they immediately signed up to partner on launching our initial run: 5X $1000 grants that will be shipped out after applications close at the end of September.

To enter, all the business owner has to do is tell us, in one paragraph, what they would use the money for. That’s it.

We announced this program two days ago, and we’ve already had more than 100 businesses fill out the interest form. We’re blown away so far – and hopefully this is just the beginning of a program that can make a real difference for Queens entrepreneurs.

Head on over to QueensNY.org/Flash to apply.

And big thanks again to our forward-thinking collaborators at @maspethfederalsavings for so quickly helping us bring this idea to reality. by @ben.guttmann

There’s $62 billion in investment underway in Queens – new airports, attractions, rezonings, and infrastructure.

This September, we’re excited to host a Building Queens, a conference discussing these major developments across the borough. We have some incredible speakers lined up, and this promises to be a pivotal conversation for the World’s Borough.

Go get your early bird tickets at BuildingQueens.org, and see you there. by @ben.guttmann

Congrats to the graduates of our @queens_edc Prime Skills course last week! This in-person course, hosted at the @greaternexus in Jamaica, taught students business fundamentals – and all the graduates even received direct assistance in registering their business.

Great job Sarah, Roy, and Laura from our team for organizing/teaching this spring. Thanks to @gjdcprez for their support, ESD for funding the program, and to @senatorcomrie, @senatorstavisky, and @cmselvenabrookspowers for acknowledging these graduates with certificates. taken in Greater Nexus by @ben.guttmann
