FIRST DAY OF REHEARSALS!
Beyond thrilled to be MD'ing Flyby, a new musical from the genius mind of @theo.jamieson , and with an incredible company of cast and creatives. This will be totally unique, and I think really quite special...playing at Southwark Playhouse through till May! by @ben.kubiak

LONG OVERDUE LIFE UPDATE I’M SORRY hi folks, how are you. I’ve been busy…

Since July I’ve had the incredible privilege of being the Musical Director for a simply joyous show: Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile. We performed through August and September at the glorious Regents’ Park Open Air Theatre in the heart of London, and then after a short break, we’ve taken the show to America! I’m currently in Minneapolis where last week we celebrated 100 performances of the show, and next week we’ll be heading to LOS ANGELES for our final stretch of performances through to the new year. I know, Christmas in Hollywood. What is life.

I can’t tell you how wonderful it is, after having taken the big leap to move across the globe, to land on my feet with such joyous work. And there’s more brewing in the pipeline still…stay tuned. I’m really very lucky. Enormous thanks to this whole company but especially the lovely Tom Brady for hiring me, Martin Lowe for doing the things he does, and Dan Bowling and everybody at the Royal Academy for all their love and support. Life is good, folks. Life is beautiful 🐊💙 by @ben.kubiak

Happy New Year everyone! 😊 My New Year's resolution is to post more. So enjoy this nonsense (with apologies to whoever wrote Auld Lang Syne). Much love x ❤️ by @ben.kubiak

I just had the most incredible week.

A few months ago I got the amazing news that I’d been accepted into the Georg Solti Repetiteur Accademia for 2024 (yay me). This meant a few different things, but first and foremost: a week and a half in Venice! And more than that, a week and a half with incredible people, both the legendary faculty (Jonathan Papp, Richard Bonynge, et al.), and my five fellow repetiteurs who I shared the experience with. I fell in love with this city, and I fell in love with these people; I hope these connections will last a long time to come. And also I got some cracking photos out of it (mostly courtesy of @anano_ons )

Make music, people. It’s the only way to live. ❤️ by @ben.kubiak

Happy New Year, everyone 😊 I think you’re going to have a great year. Especially you. #vocals #music #acappella #newyear #happynewyear #harmony #classicalmusic #cover #harmonies #bass #choir #singing #fyp #amidoingitright by @ben.kubiak

The One Gentleman in Verona by @ben.kubiak

Well, flights are booked, and it’s now less than a month before I leave for London for my studies at the Guildhall! I’m equal parts excited and terrified, but I think that’s probably the right way to be…right? But before I leave, I have one final concert to look forward to. And I’d love to see you all there!

On the 12th (next Saturday), I’ll be joined by the stunning Tayla, Sid, Rhiannon, Alfred, and Alexandra for a farewell concert at the Auckland Opera Studio. You can expect a sparkling mix of operatic classics, songs, musical theatre, and everything in between, for what should be a very special evening. And there’s free food and wine. What more could you need?

You can get tickets from https://www.aucklandoperastudio.co.nz, and there are cheaper tickets available for under-30s. I would love nothing more than to be able to say goodbye to a room full of the familiar faces who have meant so much to me. Toodle pip x by @ben.kubiak

Thrilled and surprised to cap off two weeks of playing at the New Zealand Opera School by being awarded the 2021 Spirit of the School Award. Many thanks to all who made the school happen, a great way to kick off what will be a busy year of opera making for me! by @ben.kubiak
