Introducing BALM’s first single ‘Velvet Crush’ for the EP of the same name 🎂

We shot 3 visualizers on @kodak_shootfilm 16mm film for the project in the span of 2 days with the tiniest but mightiest crew: Jason and I 🤝🏾

Full Visualizers coming soon…

We embraced a simpler and grungier aesthetic to enhance Balm’s beautiful, soulful, and intimate music!

Thank you so much Jordan for trusting me and our @flatmemorymedia team to bring the visuals for your music to life 🙌🏽

I never met Marcia Lucas but I wish I did.

She cut some of the very best movies of the 1970s - The Candidate, American Graffiti, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Taxi Driver, oh and Star Wars - and those helped push the art form forward.

It’s a shame that she didn’t give many long-form interviews, but I’m so glad the makers of Icons Unearthed: Star Wars decided to include her entire 3 hour interview in the physical media release. Worth checking out for that alone! Her insights are invaluable. The clip in this post is about an editing nitpick I share with her.

Lastly, my editing pseudonym is Griffin Daniels. Daniels comes from my father’s first name. Griffin comes from Marcia’s maiden name. Gotta steal from the best! by @ben.winter

For anyone who didn’t know, the title of my short film Prisoner of the Desert is a nod to John Ford’s The Searchers, or as it was released in France…
