One month since @andy.swimming Andy Donaldson’s record-breaking swim, 55km along the Ord River. Invited by Ben Broady to run swim clinics and inspire people to swim ahead of the town’s new pool reopening after being closed for two years, he decided to do the Dam to Dam Challenge to shine a light on Kununurra. That light was bright! These PR results speak for themselves. Massive reach across the world with 4 x the population of Australia reading, listening or watching Andy’s story. As far as media reach goes, this is the biggest story to ever come out of Kununurra (according to Claude and ChatGPT). This is just the beginning, the ripple effect of global publicity continues. Good Morning America, Scottish TV, BBC Radio 5 Live, Corriera della Sera, Marca, The Guardian UK, USA & Aus, BBC Scotland, AAP, India Times, plus MSN, Yahoo News, AOL across multiple markets, and so many more from Germany, France, Phillipines, Taipei, Singapore, HongKong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Türkiye, Croatia, among others. The most successful campaign in my 27-year career in terms of media coverage results. And I’m still collating coverage.350+ media articles posted with a combined monthly audience of 105 BILLION website visitors, 12.9 Billion unique visitors with 110.5 million people who read the articles.Andy Donaldson’s record breaking 55km Dam to Dam swim challenge along the Ord River (inhabited by 5,500 crocs) has well and truly put Kununurra on the global map. This swim is set to become a bucket list challenge for open water swimmers around the world. At the same time, Andy did swim clinics, school talks and visits and even drive some local kids to school in his fancy Porche EV. Incredible work by Ben Broady who pulled it all together, rallying support from the community who jumped on board to help make it happen. Thanks to all thr journalists and editors who picked up this story, shining a big, bright light on the stunning East Kimberley region. Breaking records and breaking the internet. Andy Donaldson's record breaking 55km swim down the Ord River that's inhabited by 5,500 crocodiles drew unprecedented media attention from national stories like this pre-race story on 7 News midday edition, to interviews on Good Morning America, BBC Radio 5 Live, AAP, BBC Scotland Breakfast, Ten, Nine, Seven and ABC TV and radio across Australia and more. Then there's online and print. Over 200 stories generated - it's wild! It's taking a while to compile this report @andy.swimming @ben_broady by @ben_broady

Watching these big crocs hunt for fish in the fast flowing water is fascinating. For such lazy animals, they are expending a lot of energy, constantly swimming in the rapids. See if you can see the nictitating membrane on the big fella’s eye in the end clip. It is a third transparent eyelid and is like built in goggles. I’d love a pair! by @ben_broady

This big fella is affectionately known as ‘The Gatekeeper’ by Kununurra locals. There were 2 smaller crocs hanging around so it is quite possible Mr Gatekeeper has found himself a couple of Mrs Gatekeepers 🐊🐊 by @ben_broady

Stoked to join forces with the legends at Broome Beach Company to release the first instalment of their Kimberley Camo range. This first release is inspired by the King River near Wyndham WA and the tributaries that create the stunning dendritic patters feeding it. The King River holds a special place in my heart having grown on up on the surrounding mudflats. Appreciation post for the shout out from the legends @thekimberleyaustralia on the weekend and all of the new followers. Thanks so much for all the kind words and messages, it really means a lot. I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, not that I am ever a prolific poster, but have received some ‘are you still alive’ messages in recent weeks. I’m alive and well and just livin!I’m mostly busy with swim stuff these days but am still shooting this magnificent part of the world as much as possible. These clips have been sitting on my hard drives as photos since 2023 and a recent request from a client had me digging deep into the archives for some fresh stuff for a really cool 10 part Aussie doco coming out in a few months.
