Don’t look for Him, Watch Him ✝️~

Today marks the 7 year anniversary of when I killed my first turkey, and the 7 year anniversary of when I surrendered my life to Jesus. There is no such thing as a coincidence, and with this weekend it makes it a super special day today.

The birds were quiet this morning so I decided to go sit at special spot where I took my first Tom in the mid day heat just to hang out. I honestly expected the hunt to be over, but I gave it one last shot. Within 5 minutes of me sitting there I struck a bird that came all the way down the ridge to the exact tree I killed my first ever bird in. A replica of my first ever turkey hunt.

I believe today He wanted to remind me of where I was 7 years ago and to show me where I am now today.

What I learned 7 years ago is you don’t have to run anymore. He will always be knocking on your door, just open it. He left the 99 for me, and He will do the same for you. If you didn’t know Jesus loves you so much, He gave His only Son to die on the cross so you and I could have life, hope, and salvation.

As a Tennessean, for me the velvet hunt is something you dream about accomplishing. These are the nights I dreamed about years ago as a young bowhunter. To finally experience a velvet whitetail for myself is a moment in my bowhunting journey I’ll never forget.

We hunters are incredibly blessed. Getting to chase these whitetails with a bow is a PRIVILEGE, and I hope we never lose sight of that. Every sit, every encounter, every opportunity to draw back on one of these animals is something we should all be thankful for.

Chasing these birds has taught me a lot. More than patience or how to be a resilient hunter. I remember when it was almost impossible to even call a bird in, and I straight up didn’t know what I was doing. The one thing I did know was that I was supposed to be there against that tree.

Some of the clearest moments I’ve ever had with God have come while listening to the woods wake up. The more time I spend in creation, the more I’m reminded that none of this is an accident. Every long drive, and every time a turkey has humbled me has carried a lesson, and I am all here for it.

Thank you to my wife to holding it down as always, and Thank you Jesus. 🪶

The heart of our home. God had a set plan for you to be my wife from the start, but He had an even greater plan that you would become the best momma.

There aren’t enough words to explain how grateful I am for you @meg.shuptrine. Watching you become a mother and SOON to be a mom of 2 has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. F L O R I D A ✓ — the special bird..

I’ve been looking forward to Florida since the day I started turkey hunting, and I finally made it down.

This one didn’t play the game the way you’d expect either. All it took was one call. No gobbles. No drums. Just showed up silent right through the opening where we thought it would go down. It was short lived, but getting to share it with new friends like @zane__dodson made it even better.

I am so grateful I got to experience a little piece of Florida, and even more grateful for the One who created it all. To be out here hunting these birds is a privilege. What a start to the season. Onto the next! Thank you Jesus!
