This is Ben.

He’s just left a six figure job at one of the world’s biggest banks to try and build a completely new combat sport.

It’s called SockOff.

The rules are pretty simple: wrestle your opponent and take their socks off.

No submissions. No punches. No kicks.

Just wrestling with a twist.

Ben believes removing the striking and submissions could make it much less intimidating for people who would never normally try a combat sport.

And this isn’t something he came up with last week.

He’s had the idea in his head since leaving university in 2021.

He always wanted to work in sport and originally thought the sensible route was doing some courses and finding a normal job in the industry.

Instead, after four and a half years climbing the corporate ladder, he realised he didn’t actually care about the work he was doing.

So he quit.

Now he’s trying to build SockOff from scratch and document the whole thing publicly, the good ideas, the bad ones and everything that goes wrong along the way.

The first FREE SockOff event takes place in Brighton on 22 August 2026.

Could this actually become a real sport? Or has Ben completely lost his socks? by @benbiltcliffe
