I first met Alexandre a few years ago when he has just left the GF handmade department and was assembling one of the first PB 2941 we’ve delivered. Very open to share about his work and give time, he taught me a lot about traditional watchmaking techniques. Now it’s time to present his own watch he’s been working on for a long time, inspired by his passion for mountains and an eye for the finest watchmaking. I let the photos speak for themselves. To my eyes, a very well designed and executed timepiece, released in 2016, a few years before seeing so many open dial coming to the market. I particularly like the 3-dimensional movement architecture, the escapement bridge mirroring the balance bridge, the floating seconds dial, the large anglage and modern looking surface finishings. I’m less fond of the back of the watch, were the aesthetics are too different from the front, with only curve shaped parts. Also, the case could be a bit smaller, even though it’s well proportioned. The Greubel Forsey Signature one, is a simple time only piece and a contemporary expression of the 19th century timepieces, designed by Didier Cretin, movement designer and watchmaker. #greubelforsey #signature1 #greubelforseysignature1 #independentwatchmaking by @bench.03
