|Working in Westeros - Costume House Of The Dragon|

Now that the smoke has cleared and the rubble of King’s Landing has been swept away I can give you a peek into the work I was doing last year for only bleddy |HOUSE OF THE DRAGON - SEASON 3| - screenprinting away in the costume department.

Printing huge lengths of material ready to be made into incredible dresses, capes, jackets, shawls and all other garb ready for battle. We were also printing fine details like guides for embroiderers, sigils, shoulder details and whatever else was thrown at us.

Learning the immensely important art of breakdown was a massively thing that I came to quickly understand and enjoyed doing. Creating a piece of clothing that looks like it’s gone through hell and back or been worn to death or actually had someone die in - something I’d love to explore and learn more of!

Some highlights:

1. Printing on Leather to make the iconic coat for Lord by Ormund Hightower played by @jginorton
2. Hand drawing acetates to print some of the main family sigils including the Baratheons.
3. Learning how to print on a wide range of fabrics with lots of different inks including the ‘fun’ Devoré which was used on the unmistakable purple beauty work by Alys Rivers played by @_____gaylerankin______
4. The biggest highlight was working with the print heroines, masters & queens @s_pitt_10 (who I’m forever indebted for the job) @antonelascandurra (who was the joy that we all needed everyday) all lead by the genuinely kind and talented @raph_sew_and_so with a breakdown and dying gang of the most talented creative minds in the business - miss you all! That also goes for everyone I met throughout the job in the different departments to bring the world of Westeros to life, not to mention thee costume designer of the show @carolineemccall and her team.

AND a huge bonus to all this job was seeing my name in the credits of one of my favourite shows!

I’d bloody love to do more printing and breakdown in the future so if there’s anyone out there who’s needs this lanky bugger in their team for tv and/or film I’m your man.

|Dear Clown Friends of The Warchild|
So very proud and honoured to be finally able to reveal my submission for this years @secret7s inspired by the song ‘No Kind Words’ by @themaccabees - which raised a overwhelmingly lovely amount of Benjamins for @warchilduk

A tad more of a personal design than my past submissions with it being an image of my two year old self with my first ever best friend, Edward. Being an only child at the time (now oldest of four) he felt more like brother - watching ET next to a roaring open fire with his Lassie Dog by our side.

This is a photo that has been in our family album for what feels like the dawn of time - us painted up as clowns - hand knitted jumpers, a Care Bear one for me, I can still remember how itchy it was.

Friends of the Past, still feels like yesterday.
Not together now. Alone. Not Alone. Never Alone.

|THE FRUITS & FLOWERS OF LIFE: The Forth Aoifeversary| Four years of being married to this incredible, courageous, strong, hilarious, beautiful woman.

Four years married - soon to become the four of us in our little family.

It’s been another hell of a year - I say it every year (and probably will every year) but this one has definitely continued to be the most wild, crazy but brightest times of my life ever, we still seem to learn amazing things about ourselves we’d never have known and I wouldn’t want anyone else there with me to parent our no so wee Mac and our ‘No. 2’.

Here’s to @aoifegalvin88 - the best person I’ll ever know - and to many more years to come, with many more adventures ahead.

|LUGHNASADH IS FOLK’N LUSH| Very proud to returnth back to @somethinggoodworkshops last weekend for a Saturday evening of folk-inspired printing, paper cutting, and merriment on the turning of the summer tide, on the day of Luggnasadh.

|THE SUN CONTINUES TO SHINE - LET’S REAP THE REWARDS|

‘Raise the loaf and pass the wine,
Under Lugh’s warm, watchful sign.
A print we shall make with our hands,
Bless the bounty of these lands!
As the squeegee meets screen, paper, ink,
Summer and the autumn joyfully link.’

It was a very lovely relaxed evening exploring low-tech screenprinting using papercut stencils. T’was a friendly, hands-on session inspired by folk and folklore, but everyone was free to follow their own ideas and culture’s folklore too.

Thanks to everyone who came, to the ever incredible Jess and Emily, and of course the best right hand printing man @jackburrill

Coming this August: Design and cut your own paper stencils and use them to create your own beautiful screenprints to take home at "IT'S ALL FOLK'N PRINT", a papercut screenprinting workshop with the brilliant @benchallen

Back by popular demand, we'll be using folklore-inspired printmaking to celebrate Lughnasadh - the beginning of harvet season and the midpoint between summer solstice and autumn equinox this August 1st. It’s going to be a gloriously analogue folk'n good time.

Bench Allen has over 11 years of screenprinting experience. You may have seen him recently at Somerset House or printing for Anthony Burrill or David Shrigley. Whether you're a beginner or looking to expand your printmaking toolkit, you're in very good hands.

All materials, guidance, lots of inspiration and a drink from the bar are included.

|System of An Acid Stone Age - IT’S COMING HOMME|
As everyone was watching an Argentinian soccer punch to the @england face, I thought I’d have a bloody INCREDIBLE night watching @systemofadown supported by @queensofthestoneage @acidbath.official instead. Happy with me choice, as you can see.

‘In a sea of black, one man rides in red,
Rocking out with much banging of the head.
King Homme emblazoned upon his chest*
A feast for the ears chop suey, running pig and the rest
But after all that all he needed was his bed.’

Thumping rib shaking, heart pummelling sound with the best visuals I’ve ever seen - fair to say there were tears of joy mixed with a lot of salty salty sweatiness.
I would say more but you just had to be there/il@quite tired now. All I’ll say is:
