Medicine should never lose sight of the person behind the patient.

At Benedictine College, we believe the future of medicine depends on forming physicians who unite scientific excellence with Catholic moral formation, recognize the dignity of every human life, and serve with the compassion of Christ the Healer.

That vision is at the heart of our proposed School of Osteopathic Medicine. ❤️🖤

For 30 years, Jason Riley has brought his guitar to Benedictine College. Once a week, teaching students sometimes just for a semester, or a season but sometimes for a lifetime. Because guitar strings can do more than play a tune, Jason has not only been a teacher but learned so much through the windows of Bishop Fink. Hear Jason’s story on this week’s Always a Raven.

Meet Sam Verdoni, a junior from Papillion, Nebraska, majoring in Accounting and Theology, with minors in Mathematics and Christian Marriage and Family Studies.

"I chose Benedictine College because when I came for a Raven Day, I was overwhelmed with peace and felt a true sense of home. I was seen, known, and loved by students who didn’t even know me. That radical hospitality made me feel like I belonged before I even stepped foot on campus.

One of the biggest ways I’ve grown here has been through JP2 Fellows. Through our weekly meetings, shared meals, and domestic liturgy, I’ve developed a radical love for the family and a deeper appreciation for the beautiful gift that family is. I’ve learned the importance of opening your heart as a mini-home to the world and how, through friendship and fellowship, Christ’s love is so needed in society.

I’ve also grown through our mentorship at Atchison Public High School, where we assist teachers with the human dignity curriculum. By building friendships, we’re able to bring Christ’s love to others and encourage students to recognize the potential of a life of excellence and virtue. This spring, I’m excited to travel to Poland with my fellow JP2 Fellows to learn more about the life of St. John Paul II and other Catholic saints.

My favorite thing about Benedictine has been its truly Catholic approach to business. Through my professors, I’ve learned to see business as a tool for evangelization—not just a way to meet human needs, but an opportunity to bring Christ into the world.

Benedictine has taught me to see all of life through the lens of God’s love. Through the sacraments and 24-hour adoration, I’ve grown in my understanding of my identity in God and how to bring that love to my peers and community.

Without scholarships, I wouldn’t be able to have this experience or fully benefit from Benedictine’s Catholic intellectual tradition. Scholarships have given me the freedom to be fully present in student life and immerse myself in my community." by @benedictineks
