Your 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast Men’s Champion Ben Hamilton!

Ben took charge on the bike after coming out of the water in the lead pack, before hitting consistent run splits that saw him rise to the top for his first IRONMAN 70.3 win!

Ben won this race back in 2022 as an age group athlete, and comes back 2 years later to win it as a pro!

Underdog again & we showed them!

The St George bike course was awesome, I’d been wanting something that tests everyone’s ability to ride hard & run well off the back of it. 3rd fastest bike split followed by 5th fastest run had me move from 22nd out of the swim, 6th off the bike & crossing the line in 2nd!

The live coverage didn’t show me much. After moving into second, no lead bike came with me… I think they thought I was on my first lap 🤷🏽‍♂️ @bw_tri knew how I was going & everyone else learnt once I turned down the finishing chute.

The support crew back home was immense! Thank you for all your messages, & to those that stayed up to watch the race live!

Congrats to @samgolong for the clean out win, & to @antonycostesletigre for finishing third!

Ironman NZ 2024 🥉

Unbelievable… I still cannot quite comprehend what has just happened. After staying focused for 8 hrs, I got to express how much yesterday meant to me. The goal was to place top three and secure a Kona slot; and we bloody did it!?

I loved every moment out there, even when I was riding 180km completely solo and worked to claw back the deficit on the run. The support crew I had around me was truly special and I can’t thank them enough for their support on my triathlon journey.

Thank you for all the messages of support across the weekend, it really meant a lot. Congratulations to all those that competed!

The end of year is now locked in:
🇺🇸 Kona Ironman WC’s 26th October
🇳🇿 Taupo 70.3 WC’s 15th December

Cannot wait!
