When we started Wodcast, we didn’t know if anyone would have the time, or take the time, to listen and reflect with us on something as small as words.

Nine interviews later, we’re so grateful to share that Season One has reached over 427,000 plays, from 196 countries and territories. Seeing listens arrive from every corner of the world in just a few months proves to us that, in a time of endless information and AI slop, many of us still choose to slow down and explore one of the things that make us human: language.

Thank you to every guest who sat down with us, to our crew who worked tirelessly to make every episode the best it could be, and above all to every one of you who listened, watched or shared an episode.

oh and by the way…. Season Two starts this Wednesday ✨ (4th of November)

Lots of love,
Mabel & Ben

Wodcast Live • Chapter I • Words on Sound

Last Sunday evening we gathered in a Beduin tent tucked away behind the sky scrapers of Liverpool Street Station to listen to words, poems and stories.

Thank you to our wonderful speakers who all shared their interpretion of the theme “Words on Sound”. Benjamin (@benjamin.aston) started by sending a poem back in time before Karimah (@karimah.hassan) invited us to listen with our hearts as she reflected on her recent tate modern visit. Then our two brilliant story-tellers, Tom (@thstainer) and Henrietta (@rettob1977) transported us into the realms of our imaginations reminding us of the wisdom that lives in old tales.

Thank you also to our host Mabel (@_mabel_evans_) and to our two talented musicians who were in convesation through their instruments Nell (@nellnicholas) and Tobias (@tc_bulman).

A big thank you to everyone who joined and made the atmosphere cosy, reflective and warm. And a special thank you to Rose (@rosepurbrick) and Hebe for transforming the space with us.

Our next event, Chapter II • Untranslatable Words, will be on the 19th of November with our friends from the Translator Magazine (@translatormag). We hope to see you there. ✨

The first season of @wod.cast is now complete 💫

We were so lucky to sit down with some remarkable guests and ended each conversation with the same question.

“How would you define the word ‘human’”?

Comment “human” and we will send you a link to the episode

In this clip you can listen to the inspiring novelist Elif Shafak (@shafakelif) as she shares what came to her mind after she heard the word.

Our season one word was given to us by Sarah Ogilvie, a professor of language and lexicography at the University of Oxford.

Thank you for receiving our first season with so much love and care. Season two comes November 4th 2026.

WOD: HOPE

in collaboration with @onehope & @hughsummerour

This delicate word took us on a journey all the way to the heart of Napa Valley. Hope is an optimistic state of mind and a feeling of desire combined with the expectation or possibility of a favorable outcome.

Wodcast was invited to explore this word through 4 chapters inspired by One Hope Winery (@onehope) and the talented artist Hugh Summerour (@hughsummerour)

You can find more information on onehopewine.com 🍇🍷

What does “hope” mean to you? 💫
