This painting is also honoring the long history of women’s voices being constrained, dismissed or even erased across cultures. It acknowledges the still painful reality that many women, including survivors of sexual assault, systematic and religious oppression, are too often silenced and deemed less than in the rigid stagnant eyes of the patriarchy. Through this recognition, the painting becomes both a reclamation and a gentle yet powerful insistence that the opening of the feminine voice is the gateway to collective healing. The message of this painting stands in unflinching confrontation with the patriarchal interpretations embedded within Abrahamic religions that have long constrained women’s spiritual authority and voice, reducing something sacred into something controlled. I spent years repeating the same painful relationship patterns. 💔Different people. Same wounds.I thought the problem was that I just hadn’t found the right person yet.But when I finally experienced a relationship that felt genuinely safe, something unexpected happened.It didn’t magically erase my trauma — it gave me the softness and love I needed to heal it.Suddenly I could see the parts of me that were still bracing for abandonment, conflict, and rejection — even when they weren’t there.This was true for both Benjamin and myself. Neither of us were “perfectly healed” when we got together. We were still struggling with old patterns. But we learned how to hold each other accountable in a loving way — and heal through our relationship. Healthy love doesn’t just feel good — it shines a light on the places within us that are still waiting to heal.And I’ve found that’s true beyond romance, too.The Earth did this for me long before any relationship could. The forests, rivers, and my dreams became the first place I remembered what safety felt like. That relationship brought me back to life. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life! Being involved with Visionary Voices in Xilitla, Mexico has left me inspired, grateful and hopeful. The gathering of such amazing art felt like a merging of the most magical elements from around the globe to celebrate visionary art. Happy Earth Day 🌎 I present to you my first completed painting after almost a decade. Her eyes gently closed as she dissolves into a vast oceanic field of energy. In her stillness she becomes exquisitely receptive, feeling the pulse, pain and beauty of the entire Earth moving through her body. The planet itself glowing at her throat like a living song. Tears stream from her eyes and a soft droplet falls from her lips, expressions of an overwhelming empathy that arises when she relaxes enough to hold the weight of the world.
