I had so many different names for Track 6, “Reassurance Meditation,” until I realized this project wanted to become something else.A sound meditation mixtape.Meditation is breath.Meditation is saying fuck it and not reacting to your thoughts.Meditation is calling someone cuz you haven’t heard from them or you want to dedicate time and space to them, without distractions.Over the next few weeks, I’ll share some remixed version of songs off of “that’s on me’, as they shape-shift into guided reflections, sound meditations, and spaces for stillness.This is a prayer rooted in equanimity, sharpness, and gentleness that may evolve into an in-person experience if yall rockin with me — all my creative homies, or someone with an interesting idea, let me know.Who’s down to bring this into a real life experience? I’ve cried hella times listening to this song — makes me question where I was, metaphysically, when I wrote some of my favorite songs.Some records feel crafted. Others feel received.JUST KNOW is one of those songs.Listening back, it feels less like a love song and more like a worship song—one inspired by the music of Joe L Barnes and my own constant struggle with accepting love in all of its forms.Not just romantic love.The love of family.The love of friends.The love of community.The love of God.The love that asks nothing from you except that you receive it.Maybe that’s why this song still feels bigger than me.Maybe I wrote it from a place I spend most of my life trying to find my way back to.#ThatsOnMe #JustKnow #benjaminnavy by @benjamin.navy
