It's out it's out it's out!!! My band Benji and the Minotaur have just released two new singles, available on all good streaming services (except Roblox, sorry Roblox lovers).

SUMMER LOVE is all about falling in love in sunny California. It's cruisey, coastal hip hop ☀️🌊

OCTOBER is a sad lo-fi cover of a disco classic that I wrote in the lockdowns of 2020, full of yearning for my first love 😔🪩

I love my friends who helped bring this mini-album to life -- @jukebox_harry, [REDACTED], and @kyliegender_ruveal -- that's you!! Also incredibly grateful to the whole team at @labby.rinth.recorbs, who are my eternal font of inspiration. Without you, there would be no Minotaur.

Give it a save, have a listen on your drive home :) so happy to finally be able to share this project with y'all! by @benjaminmetha

Big news for Benji fans who live in California (and sad news for Benji fans who live in Melbourne): I’ve been hired!! 🥳 I’ll be starting a 2-3 year position as a postdoctoral researcher at Caltech in September 🧡There, I’ll be comparing more galaxy data to simulations of our Universe, and helping design future space telescopes — as well as doing any music or sci comm work that I can get my hands on. This has always been a dream for me, to travel the world and do science in a lot of cool places. I’m excited (and hecking nervous!) for the next adventure to begin 😁 by @benjaminmetha

A comet is a frozen ball of gas and dust, hurtling through the cosmos. Originating from the Oort Cloud in the outer regions on the solar system, they fall towards the sun and miss, flying out on long, elliptical orbits. Their sparkling tails are made from their bodies disintegrating.

This comet, C/2024 G3 ATLAS, has already fully disintegrated, leaving nothing but a streak of ice (and a few choice photographs) behind.

Is brain rot the new sci comm? 🧠 (Made by plugging my PhD thesis abstract into pdftobrainrot.com. How is it so engaging?) by @benjaminmetha

Last stop on the tour — @ucirvine 🥲 LA truly has become a second home for me. It was really special to get the chance to come back and visit my friends, meet their pets, go hiking, see the beach, and catch one of my favourite bands that never comes to Melbourne.

…aaand that’s a wrap on my talk tour! Time to sleep for about a week 😴 by @benjaminmetha

Stop #8 on the tour — it’s @cuboulder! What a stunningly beautiful city. Unfortunately I arrived right at the same time that the snow did (and left just when it was melting), which wrecked some of my plans to go hiking and cycling, but also transformed the landscape into a gorgeous winter wonderland. 10/10 would visit again by @benjaminmetha

Stops #6 and #7 — @northwesternu and @illinois1867 :) I have absolutely fallen in love with Chicago. The vibes are really nice here. Strangers are kind. I also got to take a cheeky journey down south to the regional cities of Urbana- Champaign, home to authentic bluegrass and the gay Versailles of the Midwest. It was super lovely to see some old friends again (@outnes.s, Veronica, Asad, Sanaea) — thank you all so much for showing me around! ☺️ by @benjaminmetha

Stops #4 and #5 — @johnshopkinsu and @space_telescopes in beautiful, bizarre Baltimore! The more places I go, the more theories I gather about the strangely large fluctuations that I’ve been seeing in galaxies. I can’t wait to test them out! by @benjaminmetha
