AN INTRODUCTION TO MYSELF:

I am Benjamin Piner, and I am the founder and creative director of Benjamin Raymond, a luxury surface and decorative arts studio. I opened the business in 2016 with the sole aim to create beautiful designs to sit in beautiful homes.
Over the years, our goals have slightly changed, we still want to keep creating beautiful things, but in an industry that I think is sometimes, quite pretentious, we want to shake it up a bit. Who said you have to sound like you went to school at Eton just to make your mark. I was constantly sick of listening to these industry “experts” talk and make it sound like there was no place for people like me.
I’m a guy who grew up on the streets of south east London, The Downham Estate to be exact, and I came from nothing. I don’t have some fancy educational background, if anything, I hardly went to school. I swear a lot, I practically live in black, 1 have worked my way up to where we are today through hard work and an immense belief that what we do and offer is better than anyone else out there.

It hasn’t been an easy journey and still isn’t an easy one. We have challenges everyday, but the belief I have in myself and my vision for @benjaminraymondatelier to become the best company in the industry is immense. We don’t pretend we’re something we are not. We are down to earth, honest people who just make beautiful surfaces. There’s no smoke.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you, you can’t achieve anything.
Stand in rooms you once thought you didn’t belong, because trust me. If you really believe in yourself and what you have to offer, then we all deserve to stand in those rooms.
Surround yourself with greatness and you too shall become great.

I’m dedicating this page to showcasing our journey as a company as well as my journey on becoming a better entrepreneur and a better leader. This is another method to hold me accountable.
Be the best you can be, it’s the least you deserve.

Speak it into existence.

A part of me misses my own gym. I trained in my own place from 2020. Out of necessity because of Covid and it just grew and grew into a full functional gym.

The more I reflect on life, where I have come and what I have achieved so far, the further forward I look to push for more and set bigger goals. Getting to those goals is never a direct path. I embrace the challenges that life throws at me to become the person needed to achieve them. Because at the end of the day, it’s not the goal that matters, it’s you that matters. I am unbroken and refuse to be beat.

Immerse yourself in what inspires you, what drives you, what makes you think, what makes you, you, what makes you grow, what challenges you. And immerse yourself in you. Find who you are. We are only here for a short amount of time. Be yourself.

Sometimes life can throw some mental shit at you.
But in the midst of all of it, you realise who and what you are.
That’s all.

I haven’t sat behind my kit for nearly 5 years due to nowhere to play it. I finally have it set up again and it may be a bit rusty but fuck it feels good to play again..If there is one thing I love more than anything, it’s playing music. This speaks to my soul. And god damn does the reverb in my studio make it sound epic.

The lives we live are a reflection of our choices. Choose wisely. Live in the uncomfortable and always push for more. Do better to be better.
