閃電 神秘帷幕

New full-length offering of primitive, hostile and unpolished raw black metal.

Melbourne black metal trio KILAT @kilatbesihitam return with Tirai Niskala, their second full length album and most expansive work to date. The album pushes the band’s collision of uncompromising black metal and aural alchemy into darker and more immersive territory.

Formed in Naarm/Melbourne in 2021, KILAT aligns vocalist Karina Utomo (High Tension, Rinuwat), guitarist Benjamin Andrews (My DISCO, Agents of Abhorrence) and drummer Rama Parwata (Whitehorse, Rinuwat). Taking their name from the Proto Austronesian inherited word for ‘a flash of light in the sky’, the trio channel the ascetic practices of nature through dynamic hyper blast beats, tremolo picked full spectrum guitar sonics and hypnotic dense vocals.

Tirai Niskala, broadly evoking a “veil of the unseen” continues KILAT’s exploration into Niskala (the unseen realm in Javanese cosmology) that exists alongside the material realm. Across eight compositions, the album moves through immaterial visions of Niskala, traversing through visceral sonic landscapes, presenting black metal not simply as an abrasive onslaught but a coalescence of atmosphere and invocation.

The album was created on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. KILAT acknowledge their continuing connection to these lands, waterways, culture and stories, and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Tirai Niskala follows KILAT’s 2022 debut album Rantai Penjinak, which introduced the band’s distinctive approach to black metal through six tracks steeped in Nusantaran archaic systems of knowing and its aural manifestations. In the years since, KILAT have taken their live performance throughout Australia, New Zealand and a heavy focus on touring Asia. The band has performed multiple times across Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan - building an increasingly international presence within underground extreme music.

The album was created on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. KILAT acknowledge their continuing connection to these lands, waterways, culture and stories, and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Reflecting on our performance at @nowornever.melb and in awe of the support we received on the night, and in the lead up to this rare show. Grateful and inspired.

Special thanks to Elise and the team of Now or Never, our long-standing sound engineer Alistair Cousins, Beau Kochmanz, the exceptional lighting engineers - Andre Vanderwert and Sam Whiteside, and the Melbourne Town Hall for hosting the event.

Sharing the stage with Robin Fox once again increased our satisfaction. A phenomenal performance and closure of the night. Pure genius.

Until next time.

TOUR ANNOUNCE!

BA PRESENTS DIRTY FENCES (NYC) AUSTRALIAN TOUR NOVEMBER 2026!

New York City’s Dirty Fences are a rock & roll band known for their explosive live shows, razor-sharp songwriting, and no-frills approach to punk-infused power pop. Blending the swagger of classic ‘70s rock with the urgency of garage punk, the band has earned a reputation as one of the underground’s most electrifying acts. With acclaimed releases, relentless touring, and a loyal international following, Dirty Fences continues to deliver hook-filled, high-energy rock that feels both timeless and unmistakably their own.

Dirty Fences make their long-awaited return to Australia this November, bringing their sharp, hook-driven take on rock ’n’ roll to stages across the East coast.

Drawing from the same lineage that ran through CBGB in the late ’70s, Dirty Fences deal in short songs, catchy riffs, and melodies that stick. Over the past decade the band have built a reputation through relentless touring across the United States and Europe, earning a loyal following with their no-frills approach to punk infused power pop and consistently strong catalogue of releases.

This is the band’s first Australian headline tour and a rare opportunity to catch one of New York’s finest contemporary rock ’n’ roll groups in intimate rooms.
