Posted @withregram • @thompsonrentalsandsales Good morning friends. Today, I'm reaching out to share the story of my son, Bill Thompson, who has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure. Bill, a devoted husband of nine years and father to three young sons aged 8, 6, and 4, has been diagnosed with hypertension, a genetic disorder that has caused his kidney function to deteriorate, leaving him with only 7% remaining.

He is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Doctors recommend a living donor for the best long-term outcome. Bill is currently on the kidney transplant list at MUSC Health in Charleston. The grim reality is that the average wait time for a suitable kidney is five years or more. Five years may be a scary, potentially fatal timeline for Bill. Your awareness and willingness to spread the word about Bill's situation can significantly increase his chances of finding a compatible kidney.

His family and I are bringing this to you with great humility and hope that a donor can be found, but I realize this is a big ask. There is no cost to the donor, other than the time and discomfort spent giving my son a second chance at life.

Bill currently lives in Columbia, SC. If you are willing to consider becoming a donor and have an O blood type, please contact the MUSC Health Transplant Center at livedonor@musc.edu or call 843-792-5097. Alternatively, you can fill out the living donor referral form at musc.co/livingdonorform.
