Be grateful for the events, the experiences, and especially the people that change your perspective…

It’s unbelievable to me that it’s actually over. Four years flew by, and these last two years did more than enough to make up for those first two. Junior year playing at the Kohl Center in one of the most thrilling games I’ve ever been a part of. Then bringing home a Sectional T&F plaque and being able to compete at the State track meet in 4 events just a few months later. A high school athlete really couldn’t ask for much more. Somehow, Senior year topped that. Making an improbable run back to state with the group of teammates I’ve grown up with and made so many memories with, even after most counted us out from the beginning. Even though I’ll never forget the way it ended for us, I’m extremely appreciative for all of the places that Central basketball took me and all of the amazing people it helped me connect with. People who I’ve now built relationships with and people I look up to.
To close out my athletic career at Central I couldn’t have asked for a better ending. Running it back and bringing home another Sectional T&F plaque, and going back to State again. Last weekend was the most fun I’ve had competing in sports in as long as I can remember. Running and jumping under the lights and just going out and being an athlete… breaking 3 school records I thought coming in as a Freshman were untouchable, and after two years having more medals than I know what to do with. It’s amazing to see the continued support from friends and family, even having my own mini fan section staying out until 1 AM to watch me jump, or the outpouring of congratulations texts after it ended. I don’t know what the next step holds, but I’m glad I left on a high note, and got to represent my school one last time. I wouldn’t change a thing about the last four years because whatever brings you the most peace should get the most of your time.
