I run a fleet of AI Employees in a real franchise business, and the trail is how I know what actually happened — not what was reported. Full receipts are in the research note behind this post, RN-2026-11-02-A. by @bennettmaxwell35

Creativity is pattern recognition. I said it on a podcast — so I trained an AI Employee on mine. 👇

Your pattern is the asset. Not your hours.
The way you judge work — the reasoning, the heuristics, the gut checks built over years — is what research now calls your next moat (California Management Review, Mar 2026).

Mine is written down as a skill file:
A rubric frozen before work starts. Weights that total 100. No self-grading, ever.

Yesterday that pattern failed my own day: 86 out of 100, graded by a different model. FAIL — and that is the pattern working.

The rule you can steal: write one pattern down, then grade what it produces. Ungraded patterns die — Gartner expects over 40% of these projects cancelled by end of 2027.

Save this for the day you write your first pattern down.

Nothing you do on a computer is untrainable. I said it on a podcast — this week my business posted the receipts. 👇

26 units of real work.
71 AI Employee runs.
Every unit graded by a different AI Employee than the one that did it.

Last night the fleet kept working my 2:58 AM order while I slept — logged cycle after cycle from 3 AM on.

And the honest limit, on slide 5: at 80% success, AI task horizons are 4–6x shorter than at 50% (METR, Jan 2026). Long, messy work still fails. So everything gets graded — and sends, money, and signing stay with me. No exceptions.

Save this for the next time someone tells you AI is either magic or useless. It's neither. It's trainable work, with grades.

Letting go at the school door is easy. Letting go inside your own business is the hardest skill in ownership.

Systems, trained people, and clear numbers — that's what lets a business walk in without you.

Most owners start the day digging out. I start mine briefed.

The difference isn't working harder. It's an AI Employee doing the overnight shift — answering, booking, summarizing, tracking — so the first hour of my day is decisions, not data entry.

Item 7 is the real price tag. The listing number is just the cover.

Budget the top of the range, not the middle. If the deal dies at the top of the range, walk before you sign, not after.

Buyers send us disclosure documents and wait days for a person to work through them. The reading was never the hard part — the hours were.

So the reading is a system now: thorough, consistent, every document the same way. The judgment stays human, on exactly the pages where judgment matters.

That's how diligence should scale: machine consistency, human accountability.

Comment FRANCHISE and we'll send you the buyer checklist that comes out the other side.
