The Ekkertinden

This is one of those photographs that comes with a story. I hiked up the mountain, carrying camera gear, a tent, and my entire sleeping setup.

My plan was to shoot star trails against this beautiful scenery. But guess what? I slept through the whole night—only to wake up to a destroyed tent. The winds up on Norway’s fjells are no joke.

I managed to capture this shot in the evening, and it still gives me goosebumps. The drop from the edge down to the river in the valley is about 1,000 meters!

You can imagine the tingling sensation running through my whole body as I stretched out my arms right at the edge, staring straight into the abyss below. I had never felt Ekkertinden

It was cold and foggy that day. We noticed that there were porpoises in the fjord. Every morning and every evening they will come up to the surface and play with each other while hunting for fish.

So we decided to get up early. We wanted to see them from close up. We put down the kayaks. And paddeled out into the fjords of Norway.

It was magical waiting for them in silence.
That is what photography means to me. Capturing moments, so one can remember them forever.

Some long exposure photos don't necessarily need a ND-filter.

Sometimes its enough to go low on the ISO and close the aperature to F22.

Of course it's not that long of an exposure. But still enough to smoothen the water.

Spent a few days camping in Oberstdorf last summer. One of the highlights: hiking through the Breitachklamm.
