My new short documentary will premiere at the @ramsiftvfest this March! A collaboration with @_saxbymedia_ we are so excited to bring this story to the big screen! Following the premiere I will be touring and showing the film at venues around the UK and Europe. Watch this space 📺 Television changed the world – but where did it truly begin? Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival is delighted to present the world premiere of Kent filmmaker Ben Barton’s new short documentary, which investigates a little-known chapter in the origins of television. Where did the first-ever television transmission really take place? For 100 years, the accepted story has pointed to Hastings. But beginning with a forgotten plaque in nearby Folkestone, Barton follows a trail left behind by inventor John Logie Baird, uncovering evidence that invites us to look again at where TV first sparked to life. The short documentary blends location, archive and stunning drone footage (by Alexander Saxby) to explore not only the birth of this world-changing technology, but the way historical narratives are constructed, simplified and sometimes overlooked. This special RIFTVF event expands on the short film with a contextual introduction, featuring archival material on the early development of television, and a live Q&A with the director, discussing the research, discoveries and questions behind the project. by @benny_barton
So my time as the @picturehouses Cinema Ambassador has come to an end! These past few weeks have been brilliant. I was in Horror Movie Heaven, 🎃 seeing a total of eight scary films, plus a Britney Spears one! Thank you for those following my Facebook page, and to all the wonderful people who work at Picturehouse, especially the @ashford_picturehouse and @picturehousecentral 🍿 🎥 And remember, support your local cinema. Not just Picturehouses, but the other chains, the little independents, local cinema clubs and theatres too. Just get out there, grab a popcorn, and put your bum on a cinema seat, and enjoy! Signing off... Ben #picturehouseambassador #picturehousevip #pucturehouses #picturehousecinema #gift by @benny_barton

Devastated to hear the news that George Fenton has died. The world has lost one of the great film and TV composers. George has a small but very special connection to Initial Prospect, our Dungeness super-8 film from 2009. George was Jen’s friend, and produced and played on the recording. The song is very special and personal, written by Jen’s father Jack Harris, himself an accomplished singer known for his work with the Alan Parsons Project. So, today seemed like the right day to share a little bit of this film. Thank you, George ❤️ @georgefentonmusic #georgefenton by @benny_barton
