For only the third time ever, fireworks were launched from the Golden Gate Bridge. So I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and find a way to capture it.

Naturally, Karl the fog showed up (like any other summer day in San Francisco) – which meant ditching plan A, sitting in traffic for an hour, hiking a mile and a half each way, and bearing the relentless wind.

The experience alone was worth it, and I’m thankful to also walk away with some decent videos too.

Preliminary results of my first test with the Zeiss Nano Primes. This set was shot on the Sony FX3 with the 18mm, 35mm, and 100mm focal lengths.

In short – they’re exactly what I was looking for. They have a much more elevated look as compared to Sony GM primes, yet still clean enough for corporate work. Most of these shots were either wide open or down to a T2.8-ish.

They’re also quite a bit warmer in color than I was expecting. And sharper. And slightly heavier.

Super happy so far and am undoubtedly going to be using these on at least half my jobs this year. by @benpossehl
