@benrwsmith threw 21.04m in round 3 of the men’s shot put at the 2026 NCAA Championships to secure the the title in his home circle at Oregon’s Hayward Field. The Redshirt Frosh capped an outdoor season in which he topped 20m in every competition by surpassing 21 meters for the first time to win NCAA gold. I of course was overjoyed, I’ve known Ben since he was in middle school. Ben shares insights into his first 2 seasons at Oregon and we retrace some of his journey building his his skills as a young thrower growing up in Wisconsin. Listen now to a special episode of the TBTF Podcast.

Ben Smith is your 2026 NCAA Outdoor Shot Put Champion 🏆

🚨 Smith throws 21.04m for a collegiate lead on his third attempt. That was enough to take the lead and would hold for the NCAA Title.

JL Van Rensburg (Tennesssee) finishes second with his 20.33m throw and Cade Moran finished third with a 20.21 (Nebraska)
