These past few months have been a rollercoaster, watching some dreams hang on the edge of slipping away. It’s been challenging to hold tight to God’s promises and trust in the process of what is to come. In the face of all tiny doubts, I’m learning to appreciate every single victory that comes on this long and beautiful journey.

On that note, I want to express my sincerest gratitude to the @Dazed team for this feature. Your incredible support and understanding through it all have been invaluable. This moment still feels absolutely surreal! 🙏📸✨

Thank you! @t.s.waite for such an incredible piece on my work!

And special thanks to everyone who made this happen

THE CAPTAIN - 2026

Named after Campos Square — the historic heart of the Popo Aguda — this community is a founding pillar of the Fanti tradition. The area was settled by Cuban and Brazilian returnees like Papa Ramon Campos, whose legacy lives on in the district’s name.

Representing the literal “home” of the Aguda, this group wears the green and yellow of the Brazilian flag with deliberate pride. Brazilian Campos Carreta is widely regarded as one of the founding pillars of the Fanti Carnival tradition on Lagos Island.

THE CAPTAIN - LAFIAJI, 2026

Situated in the core of the Brazilian Quarter, Lafiaji is one of the original homes of the Fanti movement. For over a century, the carnival’s pulse has been felt most strongly through these streets.

Lafiaji is a master of the Careta (masked street performance) tradition. Known for a bold and commanding presence, their red and white troupes are famous for their synchronized choreography and their commitment to preserving the masked, high-energy mystery that the returnees first brought back from the Atlantic.

PLAYING MAS - OKOO-FAJI, 2026

Positioned at the crossroads of indigenous geography and returnee culture, Okoo-Faji has been a central part of the island’s community fabric since the mid-19th century.

Okoo-Faji is defined by its youthful energy. Their tri-colour costumes of blue, red, and white are a staple of the parade route. The association perfectly captures the spirit of a neighborhood that has spent 150 years blending traditional Yoruba character with the vibrant flair of Afro-Brazilian inheritance.

Who owns creativity in the age of Artificial General Intelligence?

As intelligent systems become increasingly embedded in creative processes, longstanding ideas about authorship, ownership, originality, and creative labour are being challenged in unprecedented ways. If a machine can generate images, music, text, and ideas, what becomes of the artist?

Who owns the work? How do we protect creative rights while embracing technological change?

As the first public programme of RAI @ Ten: Afterlives / Afterspaces, we invite you to join the first conversation in our anniversary live series:

AGI and the Creative Industry
Authorship, Ownership & Creative Rights in the Age of Artificial General Intelligence

The Man with the Tall Cap, Lagos Fanti, 2026

We met at the latest Lagos Fanti Festival, a celebration that has been going on for well over a century, though I only found out about it recently.

I came across him while documenting the Brazilian Campos Carreta community, one of the founding groups behind the Fanti Carnival tradition on Lagos Island. Named after Campos Square, the historic centre of the Popo Aguda, the community traces its roots to Brazilian and Cuban returnees whose legacy still shapes the festival today.

As the literal “home” of the Aguda, members wear the green and yellow of the Brazilian flag with clear intention, carrying history not just in their costumes but in the community itself.

What stayed with me wasn’t how he looked. It was his patience. In the middle of all that festival energy, he never hurried me or asked why I needed another frame. He just stood there and gave me the time to make this portrait.

Sometimes the people who leave the strongest impression are the ones whose names you never learn. by @benson.apah

LIVING ART, 2026

During my time in Nairobi, I began reflecting on what “Living Art” could mean beyond something static. The idea formed gradually through observation and time spent within the city’s post-colonial historic sites. I came to see culture as something alive, carried through people, clothing, and environment.

This series is a response to that moment. A reflection on identity as something that continues to evolve, shaped by memory, history, and presence.

In collaboration with @wmagchina, @earthpartner, and @artpartner
