It’s farming conference time. Two days where I can forget the flooding on the farm (bugger all I can do about it) and immerse myself in some of the finest farm chat you’ll find this side of Groundswell. But even more important than the chat are the people and these are some of the finest people you will meet. Only done one day and my brain is already full of new knowledge gleaned from people passionate about river health and flooding and perennial vegetable propagation and livestock welfare and place within a farmed landscape and regenerative farming……. Ready for day 2 🌳💪🐄🐄🥬💦🐞 by @bentheoandrews

Put the drone up to check to see how the floods were doing on the bits I can’t get to and wasn’t prepared for the amount of birds down there. I tried to keep the drone as high as I could so I didn’t scare them - both for the birds’ sake and the drone. This is private land - don’t go flying a drone over any old wetland area unless you have permission and if you do, do it with minimal disturbance to the wildlife. Mostly Canada geese and gulls but a fair few wigeon and a couple of what I think are greylag geese but didn’t want to get any closer. by @bentheoandrews

It’s amazing how obsessed some people are with perfect expanses of lawn. You don’t need to let your garden turn into a jungle but a bit of diversity is never a bad thing. by @bentheoandrews

Getting sunflowers in the ground. 1500 seeds. One man (and his dog). Less than an hour (including faffing around with a camera). Can’t wait to start picking. by @bentheoandrews

@friendsoftheriverwye have created The Riverside Code Similar to the Countryside Code it’s a handy list of dos, don’ts and tips so that we can all play our part in reversing the poor health of The Rover Wye and other wonderful rivers around the country.🦦 It includes information on how to enjoy the river responsibly, how to spot and report different types of pollution and, particularly for farmers, what we need to do to stay within the law and do our bit to clean up rivers.🐟 Not in the Wye catchment? Don’t feel left out! While this has been created by Friends of the River Wye, this code is pretty much universal and can be applied to any watercourse in the country. The booklet was beautifully illustrated by @jessicarisingstudio #theriversidecode #earthday by @bentheoandrews
