What makes a collector say yes to a piece?

Every piece a collector chooses tells a story about who they are, what they value, and what they want the next generation to inherit. taken in Jacob K Javits Convention Center by @bentley_patrick

A short story: I kept getting invited to candidate meet and greets and Sheena and I were the usually the only youngish Black people there. And often I was the only Black man in attendance.

So instead of getting on social media and complaining about it, I contacted the campaign manager of a candidate I liked and opened up my home. Then I invited my network of brothers to ask questions and hear him out.

Moral: Stop complaining if you won't do anything. by @bentley_patrick

I was asked on a podcast recently what becomes more important in the Age of AI.

As a Creative Technologist and working at Google, I am on the frontlines.

My take: taste becomes more important when knowledge is no longer scarce.

I also talk about how my experience as an art collector gives me perspective on what's to come.

Right now there is an amazing exhibit at the @hsvmuseumart that highlights the work of three Internationally renowned Black artists with ties to #huntsvilleal.

The exhibit explores the concept of home from the perspectives of Photographer @orgnzd.visuals, Painter @jahnitheartist and Multimedia Visual Artists @toyinojihodutola.

Listen to the Chief Curator of the Museum talk about why this exhibit is special and so impactful.

The exhibit runs through January! by @bentley_patrick

I was on a podcast recently talking about my role at Google, AI, and taste.

Unless you really know me, you probably think I been working in Big Tech for a while.

Not true.

People have started asking me how to be a collector.

You already are. Collect what you like.

But at some point, you may realize that collectors have a bigger impact than you were anticipating. by @bentley_patrick
