sometimes you’re not expecting to talk to someone who may have first heard “Rock Island Line” the exact same way you did.

such a discovery was made during episode 1135 of the Kreative Kontrol Well I May Be Right and I May Be Wrong podcast because Jake Xerxes Fussell returns to discuss his new album, ‘The Old Beloved Path,’ us meeting up at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival just moments before I took my daughter to see AC/DC, Jake’s limited experiences at big shows beyond Bob Dylan’s and a band he’d love to see one day, a lengthy discussion about “Rock Island Line” and ‘The Compleat Beatles,’ contemplating aging and transience, the historical implications of musical interpretation and adaptation, why Jake would rather write a book than a song, working with Ben Whiteley, upcoming shows, other future plans, and much more.

it is nice to get to talk with Jake and I hope you find time to listen to us talking on my Kreative Kontrol show. ‘The Old Beloved Path’ is out on September 18, so please listen to that too. thanks!

New @joanshelley record Real Warmth out today! I’m so proud to have accompanied Joan on this journey producing, recording, and playing on it. Truly honoured to have been entrusted with this task by one of my musical hero’s. It was such a joy to watch the songs grow from little seeds to tall strong trees. So many thanks to all the musicians that made it happen. @nathansalsburg @theweatherstation @mattkelly250 @missngmusic @ken_whiteley #philmelanson @noquarterrex mind blowing cover by @heather__goodchild by @benwhiteley

Congrats to @gharmz for her beautiful new record which is now out!
I felt lucky to be part of the process for this one, playing bass in the original sessions and then jumping back in with extra recording, some overdubs and re-recording later in the process.
Georgia is one of the best writers and singers we got! by @benwhiteley
