@blackeyedpeas appearing on Buzz during the show’s “Trash Talk” segment, filmed at Warped Tour ’99 at Polson Pier in Toronto on July 24, 1999.

The clip was filmed on the same day as the group’s MuchMusic appearance, showing how much Canadian press they completed during the Toronto stop of the tour.

Buzz was a Canadian comedy series hosted by Mista Mo and Daryn Jones. It originally aired as a community television programme on Rogers Television from 1996 to 1999, before moving to The Comedy Network in 2000.

@blackeyedpeas featured in the Fall 1997 issue of Kronick: The Underground Chronicle. 🖤

The photographs featured on the second page were taken by B+ and come from one of the very first Black Eyed Peas photoshoots.

The interview is also one of the few examples of @iamwill being credited as WillOneX during the early Black Eyed Peas era, before changing his name to will.i.am.

This is one of the earliest Black Eyed Peas magazine features we’ve come across, published shortly after the group signed to Interscope Records in July 1997.

Today marks 28 years since the release of Behind the Front, Black Eyed Peas’ debut studio album.

Released on June 30, 1998, the album blended hip hop with soul, jazz and Latin influences, backed by a full live band. Recorded between July 1997 and February 1998, Behind the Front featured @iamwill, @apldeap and @taboo alongside a live band consisting of @kevinfeyen, @fratantuno, @mryoshiaki, @brianbeletic with additional contributions from @djmotiv8 and vocalist @alwayskimhill.

The album produced the singles Fallin’ Up / ¿Que Dices?, Joints & Jam and Karma, before the group spent the following years touring the record on festivals including Smokin’ Grooves 98’ and Vans Warped Tour 1999.

Behind the Front will always be a special album to me. It’s still my favourite album of all time and the first album I truly fell in love with as a body of work. It’s also the reason @bepempire exists. When I was 12, I wanted to share photos from the Behind the Front and Bridging the Gap eras, but there wasn’t much online, so I started researching, saving everything I could find and slowly building an archive. Looking back now, I never imagined that would grow into what the page has become today!

The album also opened the door to so much music I probably wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. It introduced me to artists like Jorge Ben and sparked an interest in MPB, bossa nova, jazz and Brazilian music, completely changing the way I explored music from that point on.

Fun fact: Tyler, The Creator has said Behind the Front was one of the first albums he ever owned, and that he wrote some of his earliest raps over the instrumental hidden at the end of “Positivity”.

@blackeyedpeas × Vans Warped Tour 🛹➡️

The @vanswarpedtour returned last weekend, kicking off its 2026 season in Washington, D.C. Since launching in 1995, the travelling festival has become one of the most influential tours in alternative music, bringing together artists from punk, ska, hip hop and rock while introducing new acts to audiences across North America.

In 1999, following the release of Behind the Front, Black Eyed Peas joined the Vans Warped Tour alongside artists including Blink-182, Eminem, Pennywise, Suicidal Tendencies and Less Than Jake. As one of the few hip hop acts on the lineup, the group often found themselves performing to crowds that weren’t expecting rap, with will.i.am later recalling shows where they faced hostility, including skinheads in the audience.

The experience would go on to shape the way Black Eyed Peas approached their live performances. will.i.am has spoken about studying the way bands like Blink-182 connected with festival crowds, with those ideas helping shape the audience interaction, live build-ups and crowd participation that would later become a defining part of Black Eyed Peas performances and songs like “Let’s Get It Started” and “Where Is the Love?”.

More than 25 years later, the story has come full circle. Vans Warped Tour is now available as a partner station on @fyi.ai RAiDiO, while founder @kevinlyman recently joined The FYI Show to discuss the festival’s return. It’s a reminder of how one of the Black Eyed Peas’ earliest tours is still connected to what @iamwill is building today!

One of the group’s earliest television performances, broadcast on October 24, 1998. Artists appearing on Soul Train were expected to lip sync, but during his verse will.i.am breaks character for a brief moment, making no attempt to hide it from the camera!

@blackeyedpeas performing “Weekends” with Esthero and @alwayskimhill on Farmclub!

The episode was broadcast on August 6, 2000 and also featured Papa Roach, LL Cool J, [minus], No Doubt and Three 6 Mafia.

Black Eyed Peas also performed “Joints & Jam” and “Tell Your Mama Come” for Farmclub.com, but those performances were exclusive to the website and still haven’t surfaced online!

Farmclub aired on USA Network from 2000 to 2001 and was created by Jimmy Iovine and Doug Morris as a mix between a TV show and an online music platform. The show featured major artists of the moment while also giving unsigned acts a chance to be seen through the Farmclub website.

21 years since Monkey Business first began it’s release rollout! 🐒

First released in Italy on May 25, 2005, the album soon made its way across other markets and became one of @blackeyedpeas’ biggest albums!
