No, you know what? Shout out to Buddy the mini donkey post!

We picked Buddy up outside of Annapolis, Maryland in the spring of 2012. He is one of the original animals to come here when the idea of having a petting zoo on the farm was only beginning. He came from an older gentleman that had originally been collecting animals for his grandkids to visit but the situation had gotten a little out of hand for him. There were almost a hundred animals of all kinds all together in one small muddy enclosure. He was looking for help unloading some of them and we were looking for a mini donkey! Buddy came with us that day, he was so scared and timid!

Buddy turned 15 years old this year. He's been here from the Barnyards humble beginnings to now through thick and thin! He's seen pasture mates come and go. He is a constant here and we love him! We know a lot of y'all do too. We've heard so many times over the years, "Buddy is my favorite."

He's still standoffish at first but those who have had the privilege of spending some time with him know he has a sweet side. Once he warms up to someone he loves to get scratches and nuzzle or rest his chin on a shoulder or a head. Donkeys often often create deep bonds with their caretakers and have a great memory of how an individual treats them.

Y'all we have so many sunflowers right now! Our first planting is everywhere. Come enjoy them with us!

This week through Saturday July 11th everyone in your party gets the first stem free. Come get that stemmy!

If y'all are interested in picking more then that stems are $2 each. We also have fill a 5 gallon bucket w as many as possible for $20.

Sunnies and bunnies!

Our first planting of sunflowers just starting to bloom recently. We have enough to open up pick your own! There should be tonnage in the coming weeks 😀.

Meanwhile our lionhead rabbit Teacup had a big healthy litter of 8!! They are all looking great! We know the rules. Sunnies out... Bunnies out 🫠. They have made their debut in our pony barn, pay 'em a visit!

The evolution of the one on the right thinking about jumping and leaving then eventually going for it was cracking us up. "This photo shoot is over.."

Summer Piglets!

One of our Kune Kune pigs, Kiwi, had 4 little piglets a couple of weeks ago. 3 girls and 1 boy! Kune Kune pigs can have around 6-12 piglets at a time but for whatever reason Kiwi always seems to have smaller litters. Her little ones always look healthy though and she takes great care of them!

Here they are rooting into her nipples and nursing before she becomes startled by one of our kids, who was coming to watch the nursing action. Look how quickly Kiwi gets to her feet! Sneaky agile. A good mama on alert. Once she realized who it was she relaxed.

Now her piglets have been moved into our baby barn and are ready for y'alls visits. Have a great week everybody! 😃🐷#bergeysbarnyard by @bergeysbarnyard

We are super excited to share our new lounge area with y'all!

We have slowly but surely been renovating this old barn over the last few years. This was the original milking barn for Bergeys Dairy and is over 75 years old. In 2022 a storm blew in the front of the loft. That moment really catalysted our efforts in trying to preserve it.

Now today we're proud to present a newly painted front as well as a new lounge! Right across from our kitty city we've got a newly decorated area for y'all to cool off and relax.

We've still got some more ideas and dreams for this barn and are proud of where it stands today. Everything we do here feels like it's honoring those that came before us. Thanks for all the support. 💙🛋🐈#bergeysbarnyard#wherestanlee by @bergeysbarnyard

Goatsplosion! 🐐💥

All 4 of our does in the latest round of kidding successfully produced twins within the last 2 weeks! 🙌

Keller had a buckling and a doeling on 5/16

Rella had a buckling and a doeling on 5/21

Kinder also had one of each on 5/22

And Roni had two doelings on 5/25

They all got some outside time to play together today. Roni's two little gals came to inspect the camera there near the end and the one gave us that cute little goat sneeze.

Kellers and Rellas are already in the public pens ready for visits! The others won't be far behind 🙂.

Kitty City is back!!

And it's only getting better with time. The kitten bays have gotten a makeover. New windows, new paint , decorations and temperature control! Will be a great place to relax with these fuzzy buddies and enjoy some AC this summer 😎.

We have gotten several litters in from around the community recently and they are being weaned and are ready for visits! In the video is a litter of 5 that came from the barn of a family friend. They are catnapping together all the time!

Another round of goats! Our girl Mickey had a single girl to round out the latest group of pregnancies.

First are Palmers twin doelings. Sleeping in the sun. The things these goats can do with their necks during nap time almost looks unnatural at times!

Next are Sailors twins. A brother and sister. The brown one is a buckling and the white one is a doeling. Resting on big bro.

Last is Mickey and her single doeling. Looking straight into the camera. She is moving back out with the rest of them into the main herd today!

Piglets!! Our Kune Kune pig June had a litter of 6 last month. We have recently separated the 4 males and they are now in the baby barn ready for visitors!

Watching these little fellas at meal time is always a treat. They dive into a pan of milk as if it's their last meal! Jockeying for position, flipping each other, all while taking in as much as they can at the same time. You'd think we aren't feeding them! Don't worry, we are.. alot 😊.

These guys are ready to crawl right into your lap. If you've experienced our Kune Kune piglets here at Bergey's you know what we're talking about! They will actually nap in your lap.

Yoga's back! We are hosting our first yoga class of this season this Saturday 4/18 at 9am. This year baby lambs are joining the class! #katiejowellness will host. Piglets and goat babies will be there too!

It's interesting seeing different species interact when they get together. The piglets are the youngest and smallest between the three groups but they already go where they want! The goats and lambs move out of their way. Like George Orwell's Animal Farm.. they run the show!
