Homestick, 2026 Driftwood, resin, dried flowers, repurposed polymer fluff, paper + lace, beads, shells, fishing wire Homestick’s purpose is an embodiment of how I have been homesick for a practice I am only now recently returning to. I have searched far low and wide and felt like I’ve given room for myself to explore and branch (lol) but the materials and concepts I keep coming back to are grounded in found, organic, recycled & repurposed mediums. Found on Burleigh headland, the driftwood carries me home. The polymer fluff, paper + lace are repurposed from other projects. I have found that whilst my practice has moved through different stages, returning to nature as my main medium has also been an act of nurturing myself and my surrounding environment. It is my passion, it is something I consciously consider daily & I think that whilst I have been lost I have also noticed the world as been lost - everything is caught up in Ai, fashion, social media, political, economical wars, death, but what’s stayed the most consistent is the war on nature. There are heatwaves in Europe & mudslide tsunamis in Nepal + Tibet - climates where these “natural disasters” should never have occurred and Brissy being 37° in September!! And yet I find myself questioning whether pollution still crosses peoples minds. To an obvious eye, it looks like we have surrendered. I wanted to juxtapose that in ‘Homestick’ by using materials that are organic and plastic. The beads were an aesthetic choice bc fishing line is deadass ugly and I have a whole beach of shells I could have used instead. However by removing plastic as a consumerist material (i.e. if I had used these to make jewellery) + repurposing it through these artistic processes speaks to me through my own reflections. I sit down with myself and remind myself that whilst I may be homesick for a world which we cannot have, I can always relearn by asking myself how I want to belong in this world now + how I want to consciously nurture myself and nature 🪷🌀🧘‍♀️💚🤝 #saveourseas #microplastics #climatechangestillexistsdidntugetthegist by @bermudashroom

Timestamp: 26.06.26 - first exhibition in Brisbane w @postdatum at @thestationbrisbane, what a night to remember! My work, Unveiling Tomorrow (2026) is a suspended textile installation exploring hope, vulnerability, and becoming. Intimate diary entries were printed onto translucent chiffon (@emeralddreamsprinting) and concealed behind a lace veil, inviting viewers to physically uncover the work. Reading became an act of participation, turning private reflections into a shared experience. Thank you to @rubymccarthy and @postdatum for curating such a fabulous exhibition, @artbybryden and @artistkyla for helping me with install, and for the opportunity to exhibit Unveiling Tomorrow 📝❤️‍🔥 #textbasedart #emergingartist #textileart #brisbaneart #artistssupportingartists by @bermudashroom

this artwork has been the bane of my existence for the past week but hey she’s done & i’m super proud!!! 🫶 Are You Sure We’ve Evolved? (2026) is an exploration into the tension between beauty and brutality, using preserved organic materials and text to confront rape culture, victim blaming, and societal inaction toward violence against women. #artistssupportingartists #textbasedart #emergingart #feministart #contemparyart @qutcreativeindustries @qutrealworld by @bermudashroom
romanticise your life! by @bermudashroom
day 5 | ikebana challenge with @flowerclubint theme: ikebana dedication - to dedicate the ikebana to someone alive or not alive i chose my nanny. she was everything to me. and she passed away 3 days before my 21st birthday. it was heartbreaking, still is. her favourite flower was an orchid, so i went to the market this morning & picked one up just for her. i went for a walk & chopped some neighbourhood iris leaves to go alongside. i chose to put it on a plate (instead of in a vessel) i had made for her when i was little, sketched into a plate was this poem: i wrote your name in the sand, but the waves washed it away so i wrote your name in the sky, but the wind blew it away and so i wrote your name in my heart, and that’s where it will stay. i love you nanny, may you forever be with me ❤️ by @bermudashroom
