Today is YOUR day 🏀❤️ My Clarence.

Of course, your love of the game of basketball is why we will all be at the schoolyard today, but we all know the real reason…

You showed up, even when it was hard. You were a great teammate and competitor to everyone who was lucky enough to play with you. You were a dedicated coach who pushed players when they wanted to give up and showed everyone that perseverance was the key to success.

I’ll never forget the days you showed up for practices and games after some of your longest days at treatment. Giving up was NEVER an option for you!!!

I was just the sideline bestie when it came to basketball… because I had absolutely no idea what I was talking about 🤣😂 But wow, did I love your love of the game. It meant something to you. It gave you so much joy.

That’s what friends do. They love seeing each other shine. ❤️ And you gave it everything you had!

Now I get to be the crazy fan and watch the girls grow up playing sports. I just wish we could be nuts on the sidelines together… but I feel you there all the time. 🥹🩵

And that’s what today is about. Having fun. Being with friends you grew up with and have known forever. Cheering each other on.

This is Rockaway. These friendships are for LIFE. 🩷

And as much as I would like to say winning isn’t important… Clare liked to WIN. 🤣😂🤪😜 So go out there, play hard, laugh a lot, and have as much fun as possible — for her. 🥹😇🙏

I was a bit in my feels yesterday 😢😇 bc grief has a way of showing up anytime it wants. Reminded myself that it’s ok to not feel ok sometimes. Surrounded myself with the BEST people I could ask for ❤️🇺🇸 Annual 133 parade with the best block ever!!
