POSTS STORIES REELS

We are just one week away from the release of my latest single, Alright.

I’ll tell ya, I was surprised when I took it to church on this one.

But is that not what creativity and artistry are? Tapping into the flow and letting whatever is in come out.

This song is for you and me. A reminder (especially during the coming holiday season) that we’re gonna be Alright.

Take a listen anywhere you stream music next Friday 10. 16. 26 🙌🏾😌.

One day about a year and a half ago I came home and something urged me to sit at the piano. I felt like there was a song in me that wanted…needed to get out.

As much as I wrote this song it kinda feels like it was just given to me (any other songwriters relate?). It is simple and true.

“You may have had a day, and your smile is upside down. But, it’s gonna be alright.”

As we head into the holiday season I think it’s important for people to have that reminder. The world feels like a dumpster fire AND the holidays are coming up?!? But, it’s gonna be alright 😉.

Alright drops October 16th. I hope you’ll listen and that it helps you along the way.

Los Angeles has been good to me so far 🫶🏾☀️🌴.

Just sharing in the hope that it’ll encourage someone to keep going.

Sharing in the hope that it will inspire someone to take a risk and create something.

Hope y’all enjoy your weekend because after this it’s gonna be MERRY CHRISTMAS over here 🤭.

World Opera Day

Here are two photos from my @lyricopera debut as Nathanaël in The Tales Of Hoffmann as a young artist in the Ryan Opera Center in the fall of 2011.

As I was looking through photos to choose one to post to celebrate today I was struck by how long I’ve been doing this. I’ve traveled to so many cities across the world. I’ve sung on some of the most iconic stages. I have tasted success in and around this art form.

I often tell people that as much as I chose opera, it feels like opera chose me. Door after door and opportunity after opportunity. All I had to do was say, “yes”. It still feels like opera is choosing me. So, I’ll continue to say, “yes”.

If I had anything to say to this bright you man in these photos it would be: Take courage, lad! You think it’s already too late and you’ve only just begun. Keep going. Keep shining. Keep BELIEVING. The best is yet to come.

Happy World Opera Day, everyone. Let’s do what we can to make sure there are more World Opera Days to celebrate for many years to come 🥂.

My latest single, Alright, turns a week old today!

This song is my gift to anyone struggling right now.

As we collectively see and experience all that is happening in the world right now I know a lot of us are struggling in one way or another.

However, I’m crazy enough to believe that it’s gonna be Alright.

Take a listen. Feel the music and the message.

This week has reminded me that dreams DO come true.

…Dreams do come true.

I’ve had this dream for a long time.

I just kept going and hoping. I waited. I let go. I held on. And then started the cycle all over again.

I’m thankful that my journey has brought me here.

Dreams. Do. Come. True.

FOR YOUR GRAMMY® CONSIDERATION

What an honor it has been to be part of Anthony Davis and Richard Wesley’s Pulitzer Prize winning opera, The Central Park Five. This powerful work continues to have a life beyond the stage, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of the recording with Long Beach Opera, under the baton of the brilliant Anthony Parnther, and released by Platoon.

We are up for consideration in THREE categories!

BEST OPERA RECORDING

BEST CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL COMPOSITION

BEST ENGINEERED ALBUM, CLASSICAL

So much love and gratitude to Anthony Davis, Richard Wesley, Anthony Parnther, my incredible castmates, orchestra, and everyone at Long Beach Opera and Platoon who helped bring this important work to life.

Recording Academy voting members, thank you for your consideration.
