★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ Saving Noah

saving noah follows the aftermath of a teenage boy confessing to SA.
i have a bit of a mixed relationship with this book. there were parts that kept me thinking, but overall, i don’t think it completely worked for me.
the mom made it frustrating for me to read at times, even though i understand it was intentional. her pov was difficult for me, but i can appreciate what the author was trying to portray.
i also wish the story had been longer. certain details, like katie wetting the bed and her comment to her mom about not caring what noah did, stood out to me. they made me suspicious of the dad, especially after his chapter.
overall i don’t regret reading it, but i think i wanted a little more from this story. i’m curious to hear your guys opinions on this book!

★ ★ ★ ★ ½ Sense and Sensibility

Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters as they navigate love, heartbreak, and the expectations of society. We get to see the way they each approach romance and life in very different ways.

the book did start off a bit slow for me, and i found myself having to push through the first half. it was interesting to read about Elinor and Marianne’s relationship. Elinor is reserved, whereas Marianne wears her heart on her sleeve.

what i loved most about this book was that, despite their love interests, it still felt like the sisters’ story. so much of it was about their relationship and how they were there for each other. i found their dynamic relatable to my own relationship with my sister, which made the story feel even more sweeter for me. i was happy with the ending and who they ended up with, but i think what stayed with me most was the relationship between the sisters. in the end, it felt less like a love story and more like a story about sisterhood and growing up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ Hidden Pictures

i went into this book blind. someone at barnes and noble had told me it was a popular book, so i decided to give it a try, and i’m glad i did! i’ve been feeling sluggish when it comes to reading, and i feel like this book helped me get out of it.

Hidden Pictures follows a recovering drug addict who takes a live-in nanny job for a young boy whose drawings turn dark.

the whole time while i was reading, i kept trying to guess the plot twist. i feel like so many books have become predictable, but this one genuinely surprised me! my jaw literally dropped when everything came together.

at first i wasn’t a big fan of having pictures in the book (i know it’s a big part of the story lol), but then they started to get creepy. the ending even had me tearing up a bit.

i’m about to start Hidden Pictures 👀📖

does anyone else read multiple books at once, or do you prefer to finish one before starting the other? sometimes i find that it helps me avoid a reading slump. 🤎

how long does it normally take you guys to finish a book? i used to be a fast reader, but as life goes on, i just don’t have as much time anymore 🫠
