Artists  Derek Berry, Shannon Sandwell, Diana Silla, Cindy Soler, Eira McIntosh, Winston Li,  Carmen Mahave, Hye Weon Park
Party Barge asks: What do we carry with us as we move through the world? What parts of ourselves are shaped by where we have been, who we have encountered, and the spaces we create together?
Party Barge brings together the work of Derek Berry, Shannon Sandwell, Diana Silla, Cindy Soler, Eira McIntosh, Winston Li, Carmen Mahave and Hye Weon Park who each navigate the shifting conditions of identity, perception, and belonging. Through personal histories, embodied experiences, and emotional landscapes, the artists reflect on the ways we construct and reconstruct ourselves.
Like a vessel in motion, identity is never still. It changes with every encounter, memory, and relationship we collect along the way. Party Barge becomes a shared space for these crossings, where discomfort and joy, isolation and connection, vulnerability and transformation can exist together.
This exhibition invites us aboard a collective journey through the unpredictable waters of becoming, where each passenger carries their own story while contributing to the larger experience of being together.

The interactions and responses to ‘HAND//WASH’ has surpassed any expectations I may have had. It has been a truly magical experience to be apart of.

My favourite experiences this past week has been of individuals with OCD approaching me and letting me know how much they relate and resonate with the work. It truly warms my heart knowing my sculpture reflects the experiences of so many people that struggle with distressing intrusive thoughts.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by, it was amazing.

‘HAND//WASH’

Serigraph print on acrylic panel, 3-D printed and plastic cast gears, wood, metal rods, plexiglass, and battery-powered drills.

108”x49.5”x 36”

This piece is a recreation of my own recurring, distressing, and disturbing intrusive thoughts after developing obsessive-compulsive disorder. Utilizing irregular rotation speeds alongside clockwise and counter clockwise movements, this piece portrays the uncertainty, repetition, and pervasive exhaustion that surrounds these intrusions.

Come see it in person from May 6th- May 10th at OCADU Gradex 111.

A WIP update:

Spent the past few days assembling this giant puzzle of a sculpture with the help of some really awesome friends. Great to finally visualize the finished work, and got some helpful feedback with how to approach its final stages. Stay tuned to see it all come together! by @berrypatch.art
