# Repost from @areai4africa. The world needs more peace now more than ever, so do the most vulnerable amongst us: children, girls and young women, whose lives and learning experiences are gravely affected by crisis situations. This year, the global theme “Learning for lasting peace” resonates deeply with our team at AREAi and we would be hosting a LIVE session on Instagram and Facebook to discuss the topic - Bridging the learning inequalities: the Nigerian child and youth impacted by social unrest. Joining us for this discuss are the following: Michael Abdullahi, our Chief Development Officer, Agbendeh Sewuese Bertha, our Director, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (M.E.A.L), and Maureen London, our Programmes Manager for Digital Skills Acceleration (DSA). This LIVE event will be moderated by Opeolu Adeyemi, our Director of Digital Communications. Time: 2pm. Date: Wednesday the 24th of January. Make it a date with us! by @bertha_sewe
Merry Christmas.May the joy of the season bring endless blessings to you and your family by @bertha_sewe
My experience at #UnleashRwanda was a culmination of a series of sessions in the Unleash Plus program to refine our solution #FastTrack, indigenously developed by @areai4africa . The support from @unleashlab experts and mentors to test the viability of our solution for impact and scale led us to the dragons den where we won the Unleash Prize sponsored by @mastercardfoundation to increase the reach of #FasTrack to more out-of-school and refugee learners in Nigeria. Thanks to @unleashlab for bringing together 1000 talents across the globe to the beautiful land of a thousand hills to drive actions toward a sustainable future. by @bertha_sewe
Last week, I attended the KIX Continental Symposium on Educational Research in Africa: Strengthening Data Generation and Analysis for Resilient, Inclusive, and Better Performing Education Systems in Sub Saharan Africa in Abidjan organized by the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa and partners where I led a poster presentation on ‘Improving the Effectiveness of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Instruction for Children in Conflict-affected Contexts: Experimental Evidence from Refugee Camps in Northern Nigeria’ a paper I co-authored with @lanreshaper, @olajidecharles_ et al which provides policy recommendations for what works in accelerating foundational skills for children living in marginalized context through #FastTrack, an initiative by @areai4africa I am positive that this innovation and other incredible innovations shared during the symposium will contribute immensely to quality education in Africa. Even though Africa has similar issues affecting the education sector, it is important for each country to create an architecture for the coordination of research to allow for the multiplicity of data generation building on existing findings. In addition to the overarching need for evidence-based decision-making processes in educational development, my learnings from the symposium drew on the need to strengthen data generation systems through robust data collection mechanisms and capacity building to ensure data integrity, quality, and relevance. Prioritizing the co-creation of research with policy and decision-makers will also increase not only its relevance but also its usefulness in decision-making for sustainable evidence use in the education sector in Africa. by @bertha_sewe
Happy International Women's Day to all women out there.Keep building and making impact. You are valued💜 by @bertha_sewe
Participatory methodologies in monitoring and evaluation processes even though are time-consuming have enormous benefits especially as they empower and build the adaptive capacity of participants in addition to eliciting key information necessary for improvement and programme success. Participation should therefore be genuine to address self-awareness and potential biases of stakeholders involved. by @bertha_sewe
