🍂Autumn Equinox ~ Mabon ~ 1st day of Fall🍁 In the Northern hemisphere, it signals the end of summer ☀️ Our day and night are close to being equal in hours on this day. We will now have less hours of sunshine, which means less warmth. The time to harvest our gardens, to put away our tools has arrived. Soon the weather takes a sharp turn towards cooler temperatures. We start to see the colors of the season arrive in foliage: golds, orange, reds and browns. The trees and earth remind us, it's time to slow down and look inward. Rest doesn't need to be earned, it's part of the cycle. A glimmer of Summer🌻 It has been hot and humid this year. We had some very dangerous heatwaves in early July. And now we have bouts of stormy weather, which often arrives with little warning. We have had furry and winged guests all around the yard this season🐝 I purchased my very first tiny colony of leaf cutter bees! They are smaller than a fingernail and focus their time on pollinating. We have other bees in the yard as well, dragonflies and new furry friends. We had both a parent and baby rabbit! During the hottest weeks I left fresh water out for our wildlife. The rabbits would arrive often at sunset to enjoy a cool drink. Our little garden has been doing well too. 🌻Lughnasadh ~ The 1st Havest🫐 We are now entering late Summer in the northern hemisphere. Our days feel much hotter, the soil thirsts for rain & bugs are humming. The first food from the garden is ready to harvest, this year - broccoli! The sun begins to set earlier each day now, already 10 minutes less sunlight than it was just four weeks ago. Seen here are my two antique sickle. Crafted from a time when most where handmade, they bare wooden handles aged from use. Although not cleaned up yet, they are still sharp enough to cut vegetable stalks. I wear a handmade and embroidered linen blouse with folk motifs. It is still warm enough during the day to seek shade, but night is becoming cooler..... #lughnasadh #lammas #antiquetools #magick #harvest by @berthabeephotography

The height of Summer ☀️ We had a dangerous heatwave last week, causing people (and pets) to retreat indoors. We've also been enjoying some storms with plenty of rain. The flowers are doing nicely, the gardens growing and fireflies have returned. I was able to enjoy my yukata during hotter days, as every other garment felt too heavy & hot. I've been an avid kimono collector (and wearing them) for over 20 years now 👘 When that summer heat hits nothing quite keep me as comfortable! We also have new guests in the yard: a rabbit and one baby 🐰 They tend to show up after 7 at night, when it's a bit cooler but not yet dark.... #yukata #summervibes #rabbits #wildflowers #handmadebasket by @berthabeephotography

☀️Summer Solstice ~ Litha🐝 The longest day of sunshine, the official start of summer. The bright golds signify the Sun. Bright reds for warmth. Sunflowers are growing, gardens are thriving and pollinators are busy🐞 I wear a saree two piece, with a skirt in gold and a cropped top in purples. My floral crown I handmade and absolutely love the delicate beads draping at both sides. My cicada kite is an antique! It is made from rice paper and is quite delicate, it hangs in my craft room. 🌞 Summer is in the air! This year we had a very wet, rainy spring. The temperature was erratic at times - several days (in May!) dipped below 55°f. And although we had blossoms on the apple trees, we see no signs of apples starting🍎 Even my blueberry bushes, that are in small greenhouses, have suffered. Berry blossoms had started, but a freak dip in temperature seems to have stunted them. I wish more people genuinely cared about the stress climate change is putting on our plants. If you garden you likely have witnessed it firsthand. 💐May Day ~ Beltane🐝 The time when Spring is here, rain showers bring flowers and pollinators return. The days grow longer and warmer here, in the northern hemisphere. Ancient ancestors would celebrate this day with bonfires, to welcome back the Sun. Warm foods would be made and shared. Dancing and music would be shared in communities! Stories of the Green man returning would be told and people would dress in costumes. Here I have dandelions and wild violets from our yard🌿 And although we do have lily of the valley in our backyard, they are a poisonous flower (so faux ones are seen here, safety for pets cones first!). My own staff I decorated as a May Pole, wrapped in bright colors☀️ It is from a fallen lilac branch that came from our wooded area in the yard. My floral crown is one of many I have handmade. The cards I show are from a moon oracle deck, showing the current moon phase, zodiac season and animal that are a symbol of Beltane🌙..... #beltane #mayday #altar #witchlife #oraclecards by @berthabeephotography

My weeping Japanese cherry blossom tree has bloomed and gone already🌸 Each year she readies her blossoms just as a chill is still in the air. We had heavy rains and the flowers only stayed for about 4 days. But oh, what a beautiful show! Butterflies arrived, the first of the season🦋 And then the happy buzzing of bees! I'm a friend of pollinators and I think they can sense this. They stop on petals and rest on my hand. My tree is now taller than I am, she has grown so tall over the years🐝 I press and dry some flowers every year, just to enjoy..... #sakura #weepingcherryblossom #さくら #butterfly #bees by @berthabeephotography

🐣Spring Equinox ~ Ostara☘️ Observed on March 20th or 21st each year in the northern hemisphere. Winter is now fading, the cold days and nights make way for warmth. The sun stays out longer and the sun now sets later. The earth is warming daily, the soil makes room for new plants pushing upward🌷 You may notice more birds songs in the morning, as they too are returning to your yard. This year we've had a bit of snow before our warm rains returning. Symbols of spring include lambs, daffodils and sunny bright colors. Featured here is an oracle deck of wildlife called 'Woodland wardens'.
