I wasn’t supposed to be here.

There was a time when just making it to the next day was the win. No long-term vision. No guarantees. Just fight.

That experience rewired how I approach everything. Training. Discipline. Life. Because when you’ve almost lost it all, quitting feels different. It feels irresponsible.

This message isn’t for sympathy.
It’s for anyone who’s been telling themselves they “can’t.”

Home gym is almost complete but we got enough to put some work in!

Kids are home for the week so we keeping it on home turf. Ya know my lil sidekick had to make an appearance.

I’ve lived multiple versions of myself.

Some of y’all knew the version with the bottles and money in his hand asking what the move was 😂

Some only know the bodybuilder.

My family knows the husband and father.

I know all of them.

And every one of those is me.

I don’t need to pretend my past didn’t happen to appreciate where I am now.

I had fun.

Then life started meaning more.

Bodybuilding came along and gave me somewhere to put a part of myself that had always been there. That obsessive, all-in, sometimes unreasonable part of me.

Except now I was building something instead of just chasing the next good time.

And eventually I realized the biggest thing being built wasn’t my body.

It was my standards.

How I carried myself.
How I handled responsibility.
How I showed up for my wife and family.
What I expected when I looked in the mirror.

I’m still far from perfect.

But perfection was never the goal.

Growth was.

I’ve lived multiple versions of myself.

And if I’m doing this life shit right, this won’t be the last one.

Keep evolving.
Keep learning.
Keep becoming.

That’s what this shit has always been about. by @bertlabat

Brought my best to date against some of the best in the world.

I’m proud of that.

But somewhere along the way, standing next to Olympians stopped feeling like something I should just be grateful to experience.

I belong here.

I can be proud of this look and still know there’s more in me.

That’s the part I love about this.

The standard keeps elevating.
