🥉 FROM TEARS TO THE PODIUM — EINDHOVEN MARATHON 2026 🏅

Every marathon has a story. And this one will stay with me forever. ❤️

I did all my preparation for the Eindhoven Marathon 2026. But sometimes, no matter how much you train, life throws you a curveball.

About nine days before race day, I developed throat irritation. It seemed to get better, but just four days before the marathon, I came down with a serious cold.

I wasn't feeling well, and I started doubting whether I should even take part. But with the registration fees paid, the hotel booked, and the travel arrangements made, I decided to run.

Looking back, I know that running while unwell was not the right decision. Your health must always come first. ❤️

I started the race and ran the first half, but I could feel that my breathing was far from normal. I tried to maintain the pace I had trained for, but by around 22 km, my body was telling me that something was wrong. I felt absolutely horrible.

I slowed down, stopped running for a while, and seriously considered quitting around 23–25 km.

I cried. I was suffering, physically and mentally. The time I had trained so hard for was slipping away, and I had to let go of the goal I had set for myself.

But then I made a decision: I would keep moving forward.

My original race plan was gone. My target time was gone. I let it all go.

All that mattered now was getting to the finish line.

I would walk, jog, or do whatever I could to keep moving.

Before the race, I had looked at the list of the 10 women registered in the Belgian Marathon Championships, women's 50+ category. Given how ill I felt, I honestly didn't think I had a chance of reaching the podium.

But I kept going.

And when I crossed that finish line, I discovered that all the fighting, the tears, and the determination had brought me something I never expected that day…

🥉 THIRD PLACE — BRONZE MEDALIST IN THE WOMEN'S 50+ CATEGORY AT THE BELGIAN MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS! 🇧🇪🏅

From crying in the middle of the race to standing on the podium… what an emotional rollercoaster! ❤️ by @berylville
