A celebration of womanhood, and the things we nurture, grow and bring to life.

For a long time, this space has been my visual journal — a reflection of life, family, creativity, business and everything in between.

But we’re evolving, as always.

BĒSIA has always been more than a salon. It’s a vision, a feeling, a lighthouse in a night’s sea. A steady, creative refuge that has been building through my life.

Healthy hair was where we began. It led me into hair restoration, treatment formulation, education and back to my love of plant-powered beauty.

Perhaps one of the greatest freedoms we have, is the ability to evolve.

To change your mind.
To try again.
To build on what you’ve learned.
To take what you’ve created somewhere new.

So, we’re making room for a new BĒSIA.

One that lives beyond the studio.
Beyond a single space.
Beyond one person’s hands.

A new chapter about growth, possibility and freedom…just like the products we’re creating.

Art imitates life, no?

I’ll still be here. You’ll still hear my voice.

A few musings and a new extension to Bēsia.

Creating @thehairclubgh - a bespoke wellness arm to @besia.hq, focusing on hair + wellness holistically, intuitively and scientifically. Here we offer private consultations, treatment plans, wellness guides and so much more.

Our hair is not an accessory. It is an extension of our bodies, our minds, our stories. From motherhood to marriage, loss, careers and beyond - my hair has always been a canvas. Chopping it to feed my little Aquarius heart or coloring it to celebrate it, hair is symbolic. Yes, it is “just hair” but sometimes it’s not “just hair” and that’s okay. You’re allowed to make it as important as you want it to be. You’re allowed to be attached to your hair, or not. But for so many women there is a veil, a disconnect. So many young girls were taken to the salon every Saturday morning but never really got to understand how to care for their hair or what their hair really needed. The salon serves its purpose but the relationship with your hair is truly only yours. And as a beauty practitioner, I believe no one will ever know your hair the way you do.

Hair that once used to grow like weeds thinning out, or becoming brittle is so common these days. And even though it is common, it’s hidden under shame or confusion. I may not have suffered from any severe forms of hair loss and if my hair was damaged at any point I always knew how to bring her back to life. But choosing this work that I do now, has made me realize that so many of us didn’t really grow up understanding how synchronic our bodies are and need to be. And so when things change it’s like looking for answers in a maze.

We are our greatest love story. And that is what I know I connect with when I meet a friend or a stranger in my chair at Bēsia.

Being an aide, through beauty and hair, is divine to me. I know what it’s like to feel lost even when everybody thinks you’re superwoman. The modern woman is juggling so damn much, it’s both incredible and ridiculous.

@thehairclubgh is a little space carved out to solve this one little big problem of hair health and wellness. I love seeing the results but what I love even more is the transformation, the co by @besiiaba
