We love Blitz forever 🧡🐾

After six incredible seasons as our Bat Dog, tonight marked Blitz’s final game in a Hawks uniform.

From retrieving bats to stealing hearts, Blitz has created countless memories and become a beloved part of the Hawks family. We’re so grateful for every tail wag, every sprint across the field, and every moment he gave our fans!

As Blitz begins his well-deserved retirement, the family legacy continues with his stepsister, Bourbon, and niece, Betty, taking over Bat Dog duties.

Thank you for everything, Blitz. Enjoy retirement… you’ve earned it! ⚾️🐶 by @bestboyblitz

Today is bittersweet, Blitz will officially be retiring as bat dog for our @theboisehawks and retrieving his last bats from home plate this evening. This marks a full sports retirement for our beloved Blitz. He is looking forward to a fun and playful retirement with his family, and will still be running around Boise for years to come. It’s time for this old bat dog to pass the leash. 🐾⚾️

After a lot of amazing games, countless bats, and so many tail wags from all of you, we have decided to have Blitz step back from full-time bat dog duty for the Boise Hawks.

Blitz was planning to run until his official retirement game on Saturday, July 18th.
He is getting a little older, and these days it takes him a bit longer to recover after games. So this season, we giving his niece and protégé, Betty, the chance to take the field and show everyone what she can do.

She’s got speed, drive, and the kind of hustle every good bat dog needs. Blitz taught her everything he knows, and now it’s her turn to shine under the lights.

Little sister Bourbon will also be running and retrieving as planned starting in July!

Don’t worry—he will still be around mentoring from the dugout, supervising her work, and maybe chasing a bat or two when he’s feeling young again.

Please give Betty and Bourbon all the love and cheers this season. They are ready for their moment.
