STORY TIME: Bethany has been in some pain the last few months. Over the last 2-3 weeks, the pain became much worse and her legs started to go numb. An amazing doctor friend of ours recommended an Orthopedist to see and they scheduled an MRI for this past Wednesday afternoon. Just a few hours later we got a call that Bethany needed to meet with an Orthopedic Surgeon as soon as possible to help prevent any further damage of the nerves, so Thursday morning we were sitting with a surgeon in Cary looking at the MRI. It took him all of 5 minutes to decide that Bethany needed emergency spinal surgery the next evening. So Friday afternoon we headed over to WakeMed in Raleigh (we were pretty familiar with it having just spent 5 days there with Lyla last week). Bethany went into surgery around 5:30pm and was out by 7:00pm and stayed in recovery and under observation until about 10:30pm. We have a long road to recovery as she tries to regain the usage and feeling in her legs, but the surgeon seemed hopeful. We have a few weeks of pain management and then another 6-12 months to see what feeling and function she will regain in the long run. There’s a lot of questions we have about what movement and feeling look like in this process but there is no question that God is good and His timing is perfect! Bethany is the strongest person I know and I am more and more amazed by her every day. Thank you for the prayers, calls, and texts. We love our people! by @beth_corey
