The quiet is a rare gift I keep seeking after.

Nothing is more exquisitely quiet than the woods- whether snow-covered or in full foliage.

Here, I can feel God’s presence the way you can feel your passed-on loved one when you’re surrounded by their work.

Here, I let go of my thoughts and it seems I am met with answers, epiphanies, and clarity.

I’m taking this quiet with me as songs spring forth.

I’m making music that feels like a forest clearing.

Where Morning light filters through leaves like stained glass,

Giving halo to humming wings over wildflowers

And turns tiniest details like dew drops on unfurling ferns into a hallelujah.

I’m making you something as gentle and vital as this. by @bethanyspalding

Romanticize the season you are in:
.
Your weather
.
Your landscape
.
Your home
.
Your closet
.
Your skin
.
Your job
.
Your weight and shape
.
Your season of life
.
Your talents and gifts
.
Are *it*
.
They are the thing. The you-ness.
.
The thing someone else may swoon over.
.
And think to themselves
.
“Must be nice.”
.
I don’t want anyone “must be nice” -ing all over my life.
.
I hope you look at your own and say “This is nice.”
.
And “God is good.”
.
And also “what a gift to be me.”
.

I find myself lusting after summer photos. Perfect golden light dancing through the trees and tgrough wildflower meadows

And I’m reminding myself today how positively decadent and fun my own Winter landscape is.

Sweater skirt swooped everytime I flailed,
But I grinned as I tumbled through the trees

On skis

I heard imaginary chimes as an item on the bucket list was fulfilled

What bliss, for 5 minutes

Maybe 10!

To know my baby girl was happily playing with a bin of magnatiles, pop it’s, 4 figurines and one lone barbie

(I can still see her in my mind, waving from inside with the door swung wide)
.
She relaxed in the loving care of Auntie Savannah
.
And I could clomp along for a bit-
.
Poles and skis click clacking
.
I was newborn Bambi, just trying to keep my legs under me

Philippians 2:8-11

9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,

Here is ‘Build my Life’ feeling like a reverent oath in morning light
.
Matthew 7:24-27
.
24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash by @bethanyspalding

Morning Hymns (reimagined)
.
What are you being called to this year?
.
.
Matthew 14:25-33
.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.

27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 “Come,” he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” by @bethanyspalding

Some songs follow us
.
from our teenage bedrooms
.
into motherhood.
.
Mad World.
.
But our God is not a God of chaos- I look for the order, the small acts of kindness, the miracles large and small.
.
In a Mad World, I hope you shine brightly ✨
.
Matthew 5:14-16
.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven by @bethanyspalding
