Episode 1 of my Money Diaries 💰

I currently earn $65,000 in my grad role, which works out to be $2,500 per fortnight before tax, but only around $1,638 actually lands in my account after tax, KiwiSaver and my student loan.

I’m currently living at home, which means I’m able to save more aggressively right now, but I’ve been trying to be intentional about how I split my money between expenses, savings and investing.

This series is just about sharing what I’m learning about managing money in my early twenties, definitely not financial advice, just what’s currently working for me.

Next week I’ll be showing how I automate all of these payments so everything runs in the background.

Money Diaries - Episode 3 💰

These are some of the biggest money mistakes I made as a 23 year old in a graduate role.

I used to think I was being “good” with money, but without systems in place it was really easy to spend more than I planned.

The biggest lesson; systems matter far more than motivation.

This is just what I’ve learnt from my own experience. Everyone’s situation is different. This is also not financial advice.

Money diaries - Episode 2 💰

This is how I automate my money each payday.

Instead of leaving everything in one account, I split my pay into different “buckets” for savings, investing, and expenses. Automating transfers makes it much easier to stay consistent and avoid spending money I am meant to save.

A quick disclaimer: I’m currently living at home, which means my expenses are lower than what they might normally be.

This is not financial advice, just sharing what works for me.
