Remembering Softness: An Ayurvedic Day Immersion for Women

📆 Sunday 22 November, 10AM-4PM

📍 Be Hive Cape Winelands, Boschendal Farm, Franschhoek, SA

🎟️ R1,350

🙏 With @ayurveda_with_claudiabatschari and Tharien Pieterse

Beneath an old oak humming with bees, with mountains rising on every side, there is a place where the mind can rest, the body can soften, and the soul can remember what it needs.

Remembering Softness is made of simple things: warm oil on skin, gentle movement and breath flowing through the body; nourishing food, the Earth underfoot.

You’ll have space to pause, to listen more closely to your body’s own wisdom and to sit in circle with women who listen, witness and remind you that you don’t have to carry everything alone. Ayurveda gives the day its shape, offering embodied practices to explore the elements and your own natural rhythm.

You don’t need any experience with Ayurveda or yoga. Just come as you are, with comfortable clothing, and be willing to slow down.

Includes: morning oiling ritual, yoga and element-based movement, circle of women, Ayurvedic teachings, seasonal forest-to-fork lunch and herbal teas

The future economy will be made of relationships rather than transactions.

This is why a core part of our work at Be The Earth revolves around gathering people: building the connections through which change can flow.

And so, last week, we gathered with 90+ members of our South Africa community for four days of deep connection, rest and play.

🌎 We were reminded: we are the earth.

🌎 We were reminded: that the earth needs our full human presence to thrive.

🌎 We were reminded: that we won the cosmic lottery — simply by being here.

Spaces like these are how we practise showing up. How we rehearse the future - for all the children yet to come.

Thank you to everyone who came with open hearts, and left with fuller ones.

💛✨

The future economy will not be rooted in scarcity or built from debt or powered by money. It will be grown through willingness, reciprocity and our shared dream of a more beautiful world. It will be made of relationships rather than transactions.

That's what the @betheearth.foundation gathering (1–4 October) anchored in me.

Once that dream of a more beautiful world is activated in us and we understand our individual role (our gift) within it, we come together and channel our co-willingness. But that willingness needs infrastructure: relational soils, gathering spaces, food systems, creative hubs. Above all, it needs organisations that hold space for radical collaboration.
...Like a greenhouse for the seeds of a new era. 🌱🪷🌳🌀

The right conditions, a little water and fertiliser, some help pollinating with others. Then, once our roots are strong, we're transplanted into the field of the regenerative economy, and we become pillars of that infrastructure ourselves.

Be The Earth is that kind of greenhouse.

There's an impeccability in teams that walk their talk, live their vision and breathe their values. That kind of authenticity can't be engineered or performed. It shows when actions match words, consistently.
I left inspired, energised and grateful that they exist in this world.

As stewards of consciousness, lovers of Earth and creators of wonders, may we all become the infrastructure of the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible by @betheearth.foundation

What a day at Be Hive @betheearth.foundation ✨🌸🐝

We spent the day doing something we don’t get to do nearly enough, picking our own food, walking through a food forest, and eating straight from the land, gentle asana, pranayama, meditation and Yoga Nidra, with sacred music carrying us through all of it…

The kind of magic that reaches the places words can’t.

Thank you to every woman who walked in and shared her energy with us. You made the space what it was. 🌿

Co-creating with @micho.alusta and @retired_but_untired_margot is a dream come true for all 3 of us and this is only the beginning.

We were absolutely blown away by the energy of this day, being in nature, embracing ancient practices, letting sound lead so much of the healing and all of this in community with other wonderful humans.

Watch this space, as we will be announcing our next offering soon.

Comment: JOURNEY to be added to our waitlist for the next event. ✨🐝🌸

🍄✨ When community gathers, mycelium becomes visible...

Gathering is the oldest technology we have — and the one a fractured world has most forgotten.

Last week, on the blessed land known as @42acresretreat, we gathered 100 community members for our UK Festival.

After five years, we’ve stopped treating it as an event: it is a rehearsal. For four days, the community lives as if the regenerative economy were already here.

Sharing freely, relating and listening deeply, dreaming and unlearning, morally imagining, earth dancing, garden grazing, flow funding, bridge building, project mapping, wrestling with complexity, making space for simplicity, meditating, breathing, singing, renewing our vows to nature, creating the ponds where wealth can flow like water, resourcing life. Moving at the pace of trust rather than transaction.

We rehearse the future because a future no one has practised cannot arrive.

The relationships that let capital move on trust, that let a network hold through disagreement, that let people stay in this work without burning out — these cannot be built on emails and good intentions.

They require shared time, shared place, shared presence — a shared uprising of joy.

So we gather in nature.

Farmers and funders, activists and wisdom keepers, organisers and entrepreneurs, children and elders...weavers of the future, fast and slow, radical and gentle. We think hard, feel deeply, argue, sing and rest.

We leave with one thing no financial exchange can deliver: the felt knowledge and lightness of being that we are not doing this alone — and a lived memory of how the future can feel.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who joined us. We cannot do this work without you. 💛

🎉 💫 Our 2025 Annual Report is Live 💫 🎉

Dear friends, collaborators and co-creators of regenerative futures,

Reflecting on 2025, we are filled with deep gratitude. Gratitude for the journey, for the communities that walk with us, and for the living Earth that continually teaches, challenges, and inspires us.

Be The Earth is in her 6th cycle around the sun, and as a learning and experimental organisation has continued to deepen its regenerative practices towards a more eco-centric economy.

While 2024 focused on governance, structures, and strategy, 2025 revealed the collective fruits of those stronger roots — marked not only by what we achieved with partners, but by how we learned and evolved together.

2025 reminded us that transformation is relational: it happens in connection. Every partnership, shared meal, conversation, and moment of alignment with the land has been part of this unfolding.

We were heartened by feedback from our festival and wider community, and by the growing reach of diverse women through our Aura initiatives.

Regenerative futures are not abstract ideals — they are lived and shaped, step by step, with care.

Moving into 2026, our resolve remains: to act not as patrons or owners, but as stewards and allies in a world that needs deep collaboration, presence, and reciprocity.

Thank you for your trust and openness to engage in the inner and outer work, and for walking this path with open hearts and evolving minds.

May we continue to grow more beautiful partnerships with ourselves, the living world and each other.

With love,

Seth & Renata

This last week we journeyed with a part of Cacao Source’s team in England, the first time in these land for most of us. In just a few days we got to:
- visit ancient and sacred sites,
- connect to the land and enjoy her beautiful gifts, like apples and berries that the trees and bushes so generously shared with us
- meet and connect to beautiful, amazing and cool people, talking about wealth redistribution and regeneration at @betheearth.foundation festival
- Share cacao circles and the gift of cacao and the Guatemalan lands, ancestry and culture with our team member @domingoxajil and @paolarosamaria.quiacain - one of the leaders of the K’aqchikel women’s collectives that are part of Cacao Source’s ecosystem.
- Enjoy Notting Hill’s carnival and the beautiful Caribbean culture in England.
- Being hosted by generous friends who made us feel like home
We feel so inspired and grateful for all that this land, people, animals and plants have shared with us and we hope you get to feel a little bit of it through these images.
Grateful for the medicine of cacao for offering us the opportunity to have such beautiful intercultural shares and connect through the land and its diverse ecossystems 🤎

This year I asked for more festival installation work!

Well I could never have dreamed up a better brief than what was provided by my dearest and most cherished patron @betheearth.foundation

Over the last 6 weeks, with the help of a master in her craft, quilter, Hana Kemp putting it all together for me.

I hand dyed every piece of fabric with plant dye.
Using invasive plant species, food waste, herbs and botanical pigments from India, dyes with healing properties according to Ayurvastra.

All elements were hand embroidered by me,
most threads were also hand dyed, a part from a few select colours I couldn’t achieve naturally.

We created a huge three panel altar piece depicting all forms of life.

The seasons, equinox, solstice, all the layers of existence from the heavens to the deepest soils.

I created symbols to represent the founding principles of the foundation.

Elements that were interactive and better yet, this artwork was designed to grow, in depth overtime.

Unveiled yesterday in the UK, for the annual gathering and Be The Earth foundation festival.

Thank you for entrusting me and enabling my creative growth.

Working at this scale was such fun and I feel like I’m exploding with a new found passion for working in this way. taken in Napier, Western Cape by @betheearth.foundation

Some places just make you breathe a little slower.
.
@betheearth.foundation in Franschhoek is one of those places.
.
Peaceful, beautiful spaces to work, switch off and simply enjoy being there.
.
Yoga, cosy fires when the Franschhoek chill rolls in, picnics under a giant oak tree and the most glorious mountain views. A hands on outdoor classroom aimed at conscious eco living and sustainability. Events and conferences. Add to that an amazing dedicated team!
.
And from behind the camera, there’s just so much to love. The light, the textures, the quiet little moments. It all feels beautifully unhurried.
.
A pretty special place to photograph.
