I started making these brain balaclava masks a few years ago shown as costume &sculptural objects. Using a scan of my own brain, coral and crochet pattern for insp. Bonus pics of when I first learnt how to scuba dive and saw this mad coral in the FLESH ~2008 after meeting an amazing Filipino couple who taught me how to take human breaths in another realm👾

BETH KETTEL’s new temporary commission A Mutual Influence comprises of a new audio piece and Augmented Reality (AR) sandbox installation. An AR Sandbox is an intuitive and interactive geological tool that visualizes spatial patterns of environmental data related to topography and mapping. The work weaves personal, psychological and philosophical reflections on a series of relationships: organism and environment, foreground and background, time and space and the demise of a romantic relationship. Through a quest for finding hush with the constant shifting in emotional, metaphysical and physical experience of being alive, Beth continues her research into ecology, consciousness and mental health of humans, plants and animals along with interspecies relationships and communication strategies... Photos from Morphic Resonance performance

"‘Morphic Resonance’ - the theory that living organisms are connected via invisible fields, that our minds stretch beyond our brains and bodies across time and space. The performance moves through the four natural elements - Earth, Water, Fire and Air – towards the fifth, Ether, connecting the physical with the metaphysical (...) In the performance, the elements act as chapters and visions, reflecting parts of the psyche and stages of death in the dissolution and transformation of the body and the ego.

Bringing together ideas from psychology, alchemy and spirituality, this immersive experimental performance morphs across spatialised sound, reactive costume and installation. Wrangling between the light and the dark, force and initiation, the work reflects on the humbling and healing power of the elements, as well as perception, telepathy and consciousness."

Thank you to everybody who came to see Morphic Resonance performance on Friday! I was blown away in the windless heat by how many people made it. Sorry if I missed you afterwards, thanks & sorry for tales of branded EMR handheld fans on airconless trains from London.

So many talented collaborators & friends here in the same place & time. I don't have photos of everybody who supported this project but here's some from the last couple of days of prep & celebrations.

Thank you @klaraszafranska & all of the team @nottm_contemp who supported the project in all the seen & unseen ways. Thanks to @dungeonkrawler_ @jord.22 & the whole NC technical team Jon, Dave. Thank you amazing Alistair @arsandbox_uk for all the precious time & knowledge installing & programming the AR sandbox & @parisoir for projection mapping it.

@dohmshop who made 2 beautiful 3 handled ceramic jugs. To @lynncfulton for the remarkable moveable structures & for allowing me to make them creepy. @beckybeinart who let me use her previously commissioned charming clay landscape for an alter.

To @paul_paschal_ who stepped in&up to help stage manage the rehearsal & filming, commanding the last couple of days with united directness as I split myself into 5 different roles & realms. @nikiharman with her initial crucial production support. I've made a new performance 🌚
It's been a while!

"Morphic Resonance - the theory that living organisms are connected via invisible fields, that our minds stretch beyond our brains and bodies across time and space....Bringing together ideas from psychology, alchemy and spirituality, this immersive experimental performance morphs across spatialised sound, reactive costume and installation..."

I've been to the depths and back and beyond whilst this performance has been in the pipeline.

Difficult time to be making work in general for most of us, in this world, at this time but thanks to all those who've shown support with postponements over the last couple of years of caring and personal bereavements.

I've loved working on this and I get to work with some brilliant people, I'll post with more about that soon but for now, this clip is @ajaireland on the sound - we've laughed, cried and howled collaborating on this, she gets it!
