Take inspiration from the everyday and explore still life through drawing, painting and collage in a series of creative workshops led by artist Beth Marsden.

These beginner-friendly sessions are inspired by our current exhibition Bywyd Llonydd / Still Life, which brings together eight contemporary makers and eight artworks from the CELF national collection.

📆 Adult Workshops:

Wednesday 23 September, 14:00 - 16:30
Saturday 17 October, 10.30 - 13:00

📆 Workshops for Young People (14-18):

Tuesday 27 October, 10.30 - 13:00 (Half Term)

DRAWING FROM LIFE postponed to November 14/15th, 2026.

We're sorry to rescheduled but just as gleeful to share this time creatively on the land, in the riverside forest close to the sea. There will be fire-light and cosy meals for this one.

You can join for the whole w/e from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch or drop in for the day/s.

Thank you to all that came out for the Open Evening of our SISTERHOOD exhibition on a cold and frosty Thursday evening.
A big thanks to my school friend Alison and my knitting friend Mel for keeping the pot brewing with mulled wine and spiced apple juice. To my sister Jess and Mel (again) of @the.naturetable for dressing the room with their spirited foliage. Thaks for mum for her delicious welsh cake offerings with an autumn twist of cranberry and orange. And another huge thank you to filmmaker Marc Bond @profondomarco for capturing the spirit of the evening after a long shift at the timber yard.
Thank you to all the amazing artists who have given me an exceptional body of work to play with for this wonderful display of friendship, trust and sisterhood.
I appreciate you all.

Beth Marsden : Painter : Penclawdd, North Gower

I first met Beth back in 2020 to talk about showing with me at Art at The Hall. Once Studio Cennen was a reality I knew that I wanted to open with Beth Marsden headlining the first show - Let the Darkness In opened in April 2021 and still remains one of my most memorable exhibitions. Visiting Beth at her studio is always exciting as you never know where she will be on her exciting explorative and curious journey of painting, drawing, house building and teaching. I always look forward to Beth dropping her pieces off at the gallery, what ever stage I am at with the curation of the hang, Beth’s work will always add a new dimension and keeps me on my toes!

“My recent paintings explore the human and geological cycles of destruction and construction that govern our planet , while reflecting on the hope that we embed in our constructed world and our horror of seeing it dismantled. Darkness plays a key part in these works and takes a role of deviance and pictorial depth. We are so afraid of the darkness and yet in the darkness we are at our most peaceful. It is where we dream.”
