Questions lead you. They lead your brain and your thoughts and ultimately your emotions. If you are feeling unsettled or frustrated 9 times out of 10 I can sniff out the issue in your language and the questions you are asking which are LEADING you to those feelings. Or the lens you are looking at things through is clouding your thoughts and just switching the lens you are framing things through changes everything! I am always talking about ASKING BETTER QUESTIONS! If you find that the questions you are asking yourself are making you feel badly you are asking the wrong kinds of questions. I’m not talking about the circumstances I’m talking about the way you are looking at them and the questions you are asking to troubleshoot and move through the circumstances. Certain lenses and questions keep you stuck or dig you deeper and others LIFT YOU UP AND MOVE YOU FORWARD.

As you keep taking the steps in your craft and in this business more and more steps will appear and the people and jobs that are FOR YOU will not pass you by. They come because you have done the work and trusted the path. 🔥

REMEMBER- the sides are a piece of someone else’s ARTWORK. And you have been invited to collaborate and share your artwork back. Your agent thought you were an interesting choice for the role and so did casting. Isn’t that a lovely way to look at it?🙏🏻
There’s always different perspectives to choose when you receive an audition. You can be open to the possibilities of the invitation - the possibility of showing your work to all sorts of people who can hire you, of acting that day, of caring for a writers art and elevating it, (I could truly go on) OR you can scrutinize it and treat the writers art like it’s not someone’s art, or come up with all the reasons you aren’t right for the role and you can shut the door on the possibilities. It’s actually always your choice. And once you have a substantial resume there definitely ARE reasons to say no if you and your team have reached that place in your career (and those decisions can shift and morph depending on how ur career is going at the time.) But I’ll say for the most part- yes gets you so much more than no. If you don’t know the casting director why would you miss an opportunity to read for them? If you have never worked with that director I would ask the same.

Pursue your curiosity…that’s it….every day. One decision isn’t forever…so what if you fall or fail…people who do wonderful magical things fall and fail over and over again pursuing their curiosity. Instead of staying where you are try letting go and see where the current takes you. Remember you can always swim back…but I think you might be surprised where you end up…again and again. by @bethsteinagency

As an actor, you are your product and it’s very easy to center yourself in a way that excludes others experiences. I find that if you try to put yourself in the other person‘s position, it helps you to feel a lot of grace and I think it would help you as an actor as well. If you take the personal out of it and really truly think of it from your agents point of view, and from a business standpoint, I think a lot of the questions that you have will resolve themselves. Figuring out how to prioritize money is not a bad thing. It’s what keeps your agency in business. It’s what allows your agent to keep fighting for your art. It’s what allows them to encourage you to do theater because at the end of the day, you prioritize money with other things in the end when you run a business it’s always about money and that’s not a bad thing. Also remember you want your agent talking about you not to you. This isn’t a hand holding business also your agents need to have time and space for their own lives as well so please try and give a little grace.❤️ by @bethsteinagency
