I’m happy to announce that @bethtuba and I recently received an Individual Artists Program grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events for our project “Weaving Chicago’s Waterways.” As a collaborative team, we are using contact microphones and handheld zoom recorders to collect sounds from Chicago’s surrounding bodies of water. The collected sound waves will be used two ways— translated into network drafted patterns for digital weaving, and turned into a soundscape that will accompany the final artworks.

We plan to have the project ready to present in Spring 2027.
